Give this a shot to see if it will work for you.

Okay, really strange. I must say this was not really an idea with the obj, I just wanted to be sure that the rocks are not texture painted terrain or so.
But again, this approach with renaming the rock and all of its child objects (if any) to "Spline xxblabla" so the sim somehow "handles" it as a PP spline (?) did you try?
Maybe I'm on the wrong path but just if it makes a difference...

The rocks are named Spline XXX.  Or... the mesh created when doing the mesh combine.  I am really thinking this is a Unity issue, but I am not all that well versed in these things...

I just looked for this thread again to check if this could be a solution but reading this again it probably won't solve your issue as nearly the same issue was discussed there.

Ahhh... thats probably the thread I was thinking about when I made my first post.

Adding the CF spline below the rocks totally fixes the problem.  In the pictures I posted I am totally good with that solution.  The spline looks acceptable.  Especially for a low traveled area.

I just have one spot where I can not make the CF spline look good.  I've tried many times to make a spiffy custom layer, but they all stick out like a sore thumb.  So, if I can figure out a way to make the "mesh renderer" box NOT be re-ticked when I load CF,  then all in my current build will be good!  At least until I run into the next problem :D

Just that i understand... The problem with the look of this spline is that it doesn't always match the painted(?) terrain or the rock because different shader or so?

I still don't completely understand under which circumstances this "lost ball" can occur. When a course is completely splined, it shouldn't happen?

Anyway keep us updated. Really interesting issue.

Everything goes well until I get to setting the color.  I don't have the preset options that you have.  My presets contain nothing (just a drop down arrow).  Maybe its somewhere in the library? Looking to see if I can find...

The easiest way to get that preset is. Click on a speed tree so it shows in the inspector. Then click on specular color and save that preset. I believe that's where I got it LOL.

Wahoooo!  That worked wonderfully Justin.  I was getting ready to try some other experiment that followed down the path used for 3DG, but this is much better :)

Thank you sir :)
