Golf Course Tee Markers


So over the last few days I have been creating a bunch of different golf course objects, namely tee markers, From simple wooden stakes with painted ends, to aluminium hemispheres with club logos. We have 10 different tee markers so far with the appropriate colors, but also with spaces for club and course logos, or hole numbers.

So over the last few days I have been creating a bunch of different golf course objects, namely tee markers, From simple wooden stakes with painted ends, to aluminium hemispheres with club logos. We have 10 different tee markers so far with the appropriate colors, but also with spaces for club and course logos, or hole numbers. While these objects are not as challenging as something larger and more complicated, it's important to me to put detail and care into crafting each tee marker. They are seen 18 times a round, hopefully not more than once each ! and thus variation is important.

Like the look of those Joe. Will these be proper 3D within the sim, in that if the ball hits them it will rebound off and not just pass through the object with the ball path unaffected?
Hi Daz, Thanks for the reply, and excellent question. Yes these will be proper 3d, with physics. So when you hit them the ball will react in kind. For example the metal ones will react differently than the wooden ones, in how far it ricochets and the sound it makes.

JH, Thanks for the update sir. I'm really liking the keen eye for detail approach, lol. To some it may not seem all that relevant but to have such subtle differences between the rebound effects of the wooden and metal tee markers are the type of thing that will make this project shine IMO.
Hi Jerry, Glad you found the link ;) . Feel free to ask away, in future dev blogs, perhaps I can address and answer some of your questions visually too.
As a Links 2003 course designer, I am obviously very interested in the potential for user designed courses. For me, the attention to detail shown so far is the most exciting aspect of this whole project. If the work put into small details like the tee markers continues throughout the game, then I think you are going to have a lot of happy designers out here, as well as happy players. The potential to create THE next classic golf game is in your hands!!
This really looks awesome to me. I played all Links games since 386 and am now stuck in Tiger Woods Online, which is a real pain to play. When I saw your video, it was just breathless. This looks so great. Will this be an online game? Or will it be available on CD/DVD? I'd prefer CD/DVD but I am also open for any other way. After seeing this, I can only say 1 thing: I WANT THIS GAME! :D

Hey Joe! First off, fantastic work on the tee markers. I'm really loving the way this project is starting to come together! Secondly, and I know that you all have a ton to do as is, but I was just curious with regards to the tee markers, if you can do up a set that are just some basic rocks (about the size of the domed markers you created). Once this becomes released, it is my hope to recreate one of Perry Maxwell's original golf courses (Dornick Hills Country Club) that is found here in Ardmore, OK. He is in fact buried on top of the ridge to the north of the #7 tee box in the Maxwell Family Cemetery. Anyways, the tee markers at this course are rocks, since the Gaelic meaning of 'Dornick" is rocks. Anyways, I know you'll get to things as you do, but I was just wanting to add this suggestion if I may! Keep up the great work! Jason
