I started building this for my own personal use but have developed it enough to hopefully release a public beta soon.

This is a real course in rural Virginia and is a really fun and interesting layout.  A wonderful variety of holes over some rugged terrain and a lot of elevation changes.  A stream runs through the course and comes into play on almost half the holes, sometimes easily avoidable, other times a little closer to the action.

Ballyhack was designed by Lester George who also designed Kinloch in Virginia which Justin9926 is currently designing.  Both courses are highly acclaimed in Virginia.

Kinloch is a pristine parkland layout and Ballyhack is quite the opposite.  Some very wide but undulating fairways and some large greens with interesting movement.

Big thanks to Justin9926 for the LIDAR this course.

I hope to release a non-3D grass beta before the end of the month.  I plan to add 3D Grass to this course in the future.

Hole 18 green looks like it has a huge bunker in the middle of it.  Only, someone took out the sand!  That has to provide some "interesting movement!"

Looks fantastic!

Yes there is a 3 foot deep valley in the middle of that green!

A few false fronts and other divisions on the greens make approach shots tough on this course.

Went out to have a look see... their webpage has a superbly done course tour.  It even shows pin locations:

Yes I watched those videos numerous times.  Very helpful!

It was also nice to see the course during summer as that was more of the look I was going for because it matched the overlay better.

Most of the other pics online are from autumn with very saturated and vibrant oranges reds and yellows.  A cool look for sure but not the direction I wanted to go.  Could be an interesting alternate version though sometime in the future.

Looks stunning bortimus..can't wait until a play through is ready.  Really sweet looking golf holes there.  You & Justin are about to hit us w/a great 1,2 Virginia combo.

This looks awesome, Bortimus - can't wait to fire this up in the simulator, while that's still an option! Thanks for your work!

bortimus, I have a very serious complaint. The views from everywhere are way too good. Instead of watching my opponents ball carefully, noting carry distance and ball reaction on bouncing, I'm away with the fairies, oooing and ahhhing at the beautiful textures everywhere, in the sand, the fairways, the tees, the brooks and the spectacular vistas. It's costing me holes Sir!

By far the best course in this game, in my humble opinion. Thank you very much.

I know what you mean Ian...I use the "follow" replay after almost every tee shot to get a better appreciation of the real life elevations.  :D

Status on this course?  It's beautiful.  Any chance of release with 3d grass?

Thanks

The 3D grass update was on hold because there was a change on the course IRL to the fairway bunkering of #9.   I reached out to the people at Ballyhack requesting pictures of the changes but never heard back.  I wanted to update the design change before I released another version but oh well.

I will go ahead and release the 3D grass version hopefully this week.
