How may I ever repay thee, O Great One!  :D

The image and lidar look great, Sir. Now, that I have a little experience with CF, I think I'll make this my first course to submit. When I get along a little bit, I'll post a download link so you can look it over and recommend this or that. Here's a couple of screenies of the lidar, sweet!

That path leading to the island green would look good with RobC's approach - clone stamping some rough on the EasyRoads texture.

Thanks...good suggestion. I'm gonna learn how to do custom flags, tees and maybe even dive into Blender! Pray for me! lol

I have a feeling people may have moved on from this forum but if you are still active JT83 I'd love to request another height map if possible. The Kurri Golf Course.

It is located at Hedon Greta in NSW, Australia.

Thanks in advance,

Martin

All done, I'll upload later.

Did you get far on the courses you were working on?

Wow, fancy being able to catch up with you JT83 after what must be at least a year or two and what a year or two its been.

Yes pal I did manage over time to complete 2 of the courses I had you create me height maps for. These were my current Singleton 9 hole course (which doubles in real life to play 18) and my old hometown outback course of Walgett ..... perhaps you remember them?

https://iili.io/BUZObf.jpg

https://iili.io/BUZkx4.jpg

Of course they are not the quality of some courses which I have downloaded over the years, but they remain very precious to me nonetheless.

The Kurri course I requested is of interest to me as both it and Singleton are courses I have been playing in real life since my two boys (24 and 27) persuaded me to take golf back up after 20 years of not playing it. The physical side of it is still a WIP but I've started hitting mid 40's again for 9 holes so I guess I'm heading in the right direction. Creating a virtual representation of Kurri would be a nice little side project.

Anyway what about you JT83? Have you been well through all the pandemic event? I'm hearing that it's flaring up again across Melbourne so I hope your not based in a hot zone.

Anyway getting a little off track. Yes I would love a heightmap for Kurri. I'm gathering you would have seen that it is an 18 hole course straddled either side of the Kurri clubhouse. I've mainly played the front nine which is more open than the back nine but it's a course I've loved playing at as its so different to Singleton in its layout. Once again thanks for your efforts.

Somewhere in the 40s is where I aim too mate, it's hard to break 90 when you start with 50.  Your courses look good, did you ever think about releasing them?  The forum would love the action.

I got through 2020 alright, QLD seems to have avoided the worst.

LOL! I don't think my creations are worthy of uploading JT83. In fact Mathew Rose and Co would probably get quite a giggle if they played them.

I mention Mathew Rose because I've downloaded many of his courses and found them outstanding.

But if someone did show interest I wouldn't say no I guess, but honestly they aren't that interesting just special to me as they are places where I've played many times.

I look forward to seeing how you went with the Kurri heightmap. I'll probably have to go back and watch some of those tutorial videos for creating a course as its been quite a while since I've used Unity/Courseforge.

I think you under-rate yourself! The splash screens look like nice work to me, andI think the PG community would agree. Upload them!  :D

Jt83 I have a question regarding my designs.

Last night my youngest son stayed overnight and I showed him Singleton GC and he asked if we could play it together. I'd never played multiplayer so had to fiddle about creating his character, but in the end we grabbed a beer each and enjoyed playing 9 holes. I felt bummed when he beat me but he commented on its  likeness to the real course so that made me feel much better.

One thing I noticed though was that there is a long delay when the ball goes in the water before the options/continue screen comes up. Roughly 10 to 15 tiimes longer than it takes to come up at any other time. Is this a glitch with the game or have I done something wrong with my design?

Also when it did come up, we were offered a drop or rehit option. The rehit from the tee option was fine but the back up a few meters option took us back to the corner of the course map?????

Any advice?

I would check how the hazard lines look in CF.  A normal water hazard is a yellow circle, a lateral is red except for two yellow areas at the 'top' and 'bottom' (the directional arrows should be facing each other.)

Thanks, I'll look into these options and find out what I have done wrong.

Guys I've also forgotten how to eliminate the issue with zooming in unity and having the view go through the floor. I think you JT83 may have told me before that there is some way to stop this so that I can get close to the ground for finer placement of objects and textures. I'll look back through this post now but I'm not sure if I will find it. If you know please tell me.

I'm not sure if it's the same problem, but I think I had a similar problem. Actually, I think it was JT who told me to "click on any object" (a tree, bench, house or whatever) then hit "F" on the keyboard. It worked for me.

Yeah click on something in the hierarchy, hover the mouse over something in the project and hit F.

Thanks guys. The F key worked fine for camera adjustment.

The delay when ball was hit in water is no longer an issue either so thanks for that too.

Just one more question guys. In rural or regional Australia many of our courses are not as lush meaning that even leaving parts of the google satellite image visible for dirt/rough areas is probably preferrable to laying down a rough spline. So my question is, if leaving satellite background visible how do you make it playable as currently the ball goes practically nowhere when played off it. Is it possile to make it still visible and say play like a textured rough spline?

In fact I guess what I'm really asking can we designate an area as say rough but have that rough spline transparent so that the sat image shows through it?

In a nutshell - terrain overlay technique.  The sat image is assigned as the terrain controller and put into the first texture paint slot, and in the layers library the first slot for your rough spline is left blank, the second has some kind of normal texture to add detail.  So when you draw a rough spline the sat image will provide all the colour.

http://www.perfectpa...utorial-videos/

Keep in mind a few things - overlay rough will look strange next to a non-overlay fairway, so if you do overlay you'll have to do it for all other splines.  And as you'll see in the tutorials there is some Photoshop work to do to delete trees.

Yeah, I was just thinking about that and made a screenshot of what it might be. I'll go ahead and post it in case someone else reads this thread.
