Tournament Players
I have often wondered why some players are obsessed with playing tournaments and others again prefer to play multiplayer and measure their level of play that way.
Is the fact that they play alone in the tournaments because they feel threatened by other players or may have more time and patience when doing this on their own.
Irrespective of their reasoning and let's assume that they want to compare their game against other players that completed the tournament, does winning the tournament at all cost is the reason for them playing these tournaments at all.
The following stats in the recent Caddyshack tournament indicates otherwise.
Number of players in tournament - 25
Number completing 4 rounds - 11
Number completing 3 rounds - 07
Number completing 2 rounds - 04
Number completing 1 round -  03
Can I say that Kevin-G and myself went through great lengths to set up these courses by picking the pins by hand to ensure good challenging courses.
My question: Why did the players not complete the fourth round. Was it because they felt that winning was impossible  looking at the leaderboard, or did they feel that the course was too difficult to play. Why would you stop playing after having shot a very competitive score. The leader finished on -29 whereas some of the other guys shot up to -25 after 3 rounds.
Please guys, finish your rounds and the tournament if you prefer this type of competition.
What do you think?

I dunno... I just can't seem to do 4 rounds of the same course in PG.   I get bored of playing the same course 4 times in a row... give me 36 holes and I will join every single time.   I guess I am just not the tournament type player to dedicate the time for 4 rounds.

For myself,I agree 100% with what rob said.when I do play a tournament rd,it’s only the 9x4’s.i play..as I work a lot and don’t personally have the time to play 72 holes..I have nothing against 72 holes though..

Which is why I liked it when the public tournaments were posted...  these were fun for me.   But we have been down that road in the other thread..

I have completed most tournaments.  If I quit it is usually because the conditions don't fit the course or the pin placements, which is rare.  The one thing that Caddyshack is doing is using the realistic and bumpy greens.  I am playing those rounds but don't think bumpy  and especially realistic are fun.  A 4 foot putt that moves to the right last minute or longer straight putts that do the same are not realistic.  What course, would the PGA play if all the greens were bumpy?  Answer: NONE!

If I’m right,u can do away with bumpy greens in 2019 because of the rule changes where u can get rid of spike marks now on the pga tour..local courses will have there normal feet draggers.lol..

I agree.  Perfect greens have become the normal setting in all sanctioned  tournaments for a long time.  Bumpy and realistic green settings are too extreme.

All sites I play on do not use anything other than "perfect" greens.
