 I'm sure you guys are aware of that occasional hole that drops significantly in fps, then the next few holes might be just fine. Usually, I get around 35 to 45 fps and that works fine for me. But, every now and then I'll get that hole that drops into the low to mid 20's.

 If you push F5, then lower the scene just a bit, you can get thru those holes pretty easy without the mouse lag. Here's a short video showing what I'm talking about. Notice in the upper left hand corner the fps change.  I can get it from the low 20's to 50's with just a slight move down with the mouse.  :ph34r:

I suggest turning down the view distance. 600 is enough for most courses. A pity the graphics options menu is lacking more parameters to further customize and improve framerate. I`m sure everybody would benefit from a max tree count parameter. Or shadow quality and other subsettings.

  Thanks for the tip...I'll give it a try.

  Edit: Your right...I didn't notice a huge difference in the visuals, and got about 15 fps more than before.  :)

Example of when I play tournaments vs when I record a few  holes to showcase designers' courses. Maybe this will be helpful for experimentation.

1. Quality settings during tournaments:  fps 60-200

2. Quality settings for screen capture videos  fps 40-100

  Thanks...something else I noticed. When I turned the "Pause Render on Swing" to 'On", I jumped from 26 fps to 97 fps during the swing. I

didn't realize it made such a huge difference. CC26.jpg?dl=1

@Jugador

I think some players accidentally turn that "off" when experimenting with fps.  When "off", it could effect other aspects of the game as well; like swing method consistency.

The default setting is "on" when we first install the game.  Hopefully new JNPG owners who are also PP forum members will catch your topic and view the ongoing conversation, as well as check their Pause Rendering setting and make sure it's set to "ON".

@Lee Golfer

  I agree, I also feel not  getting a smooth swing meter is the main reason new users complain about the game.  Having Pause Rendering

"ON" makes all the difference for PC's like mine that can't get a steady 60fps. With it turned on, I have all my sliders at "MAX", average around 35 to 40 fps in game, and as you saw almost a 100 fps when I swing. Works for me!  :)

Just so others will learn from what you have stated, by making sure Pause Render is "on" you are getting a smoother 3click swing?  That's how I read it...

This came up a year or two ago along with another 7/8/9 suggestions to cure the different ills on the swing meter. Hope it works for someone but it didn't work for me.

Yes, you are correct on two fronts. It's a belabored topic and secondly, no one has found a global fix for a skittery meter.

Back on topic:  FPS

Whatever it takes to have a fun graphical experience while maintaining a good FPS is all that any gamer wants to find through tweaking. As for JNPG, some find that using Vsync in the graphics settings works for them and others don't.

Through a lot of experimenting with the EVGA GTX 1070Ti FTW, I  found my Sweet Spot Settings as seen earlier in this topic.

I'm glad I never have this meter problem so I can spend my free time playing this great game instead of tweaking my settings.

I have to ask though.. I know there will be no response.. maybe because I play solely tour pro and have never played any less level might be

a good thing? :unsure:

That sounds right for older mid-level gaming cards.  When one is able to purchase the GTX 1060 or RTX 2060, they might be able to set their quality meters a little higher. IMHO the 1070Ti or 2070Ti are just right for JNPG and beyond...

            Yes sir, I didn't even know that I had the Pause Render "off" when I posted my "lame" idea...lol

            With the Pause Render "on" my meter is smooth as butter, so, that's the better "trick"!

If you mean does the meter issues lessen if you play at a lower level the answer is yes for me. I play Pro level but if I play amateur level my problem (the meter over running 6 o'clock at the third click) is considerably better. That's why I have always taken the view that there is something amiss in the code and it's not simply any deficiency in a players equipment.
