Just wanted to say thanks to Andrew and Mike for their input!

We simply have to read between the lines.

He was... but I would add that he was probably being optimistically sarcastic.  ;)

I have long gone past being optimistic, as have many on here.

How old is this game, now? How long since any kind of an update from the developers? When's the last anyone has heard from any of them? Pretty rude as far as I'm concerned. How much money (estimated) did they make on this game since it came out? I suspect that they are too busy living their lives now to be concerned with us who bought their game. I bet that it doesn't even cross their mind to come in here and check up on us.  I have tried to play this game with my VR headset but it seems to lag too much and the graphics are not as clear as on my computer.

Mike was actually just online yesterday, albeit not to comment on PG2 or anything.
Trackman owns this game now.

I'm loving these pictures - fantastic to see the innovation here I'm as excited as anyone! I'm not here to comment on PG2 just to give my appreciation of some truly great work being done by the community.

If I were to put my 2 pence worth in I would suggest a clever combination of 3d grass and 2d grass so there is less of a contrast between near and far views, adopt the maxim of less is more, and explore the possibility of creating 3 or 4 LOD's for the imported meshes and also by splitting them into multiple smaller meshes so you can set the furthest LOD to the distance where the 3d grass just fades out. In this way the performance hit would be minimal and the 'look' would not be sacrificed at all.

Buck I really believe they are not aloud to comment back to us as per the new owners. It's such a shame as this game could have been the bomb but with trackman in charge it will never happen. I like many just waiting for Trackman to pull the plug at some point but my hope for the perfect golf game is now over and it was right there at our fingertips.

I firmly believe three-click is a fundamental for PC virtual golf.  Just like a CPU is a fundamental part of a computer. As long as PG1 is a PC game three-click will be the number #1 choice for players.

A precedent was set with the Links series and IMHO that precedent will continue with Perfect Golf.

I think it came out in 2015 maybe?  Last updated was maybe a month or two ago with a bug fix for greensome multiplayer and a few other minor bug fixes.  The reality is they went back opened up the code and fixed the bug.... AFTER telling us they were no longer going to touch PG1 code.  I have no idea what they are thinking or planning but my guess is that PG2 is taking much longer than expected and they were generous enough to put that fix in for us giving us something while we wait.  Greensome is a GREAT format and I really appreciate that they fixed it.

So... Mike just came into say how exciting it is that the community is doing some awesome stuff?  I am sure he is completely excited, but it would be cruel to show excitement to a community if you know they will eventually be no more. I don't know the guy, but he doesn't seem in the least bit cruel to me

I am not even an optimist and I find optimism in Mike taking time to show his excitement.

I believe if Mike and Andrew could talk about the game and what is going on they would and their not talking is telling. They have been doing this stuff for over two decades and they are the whole reason w have PG1. IMHO they are the best you will find to develop a video golf game as their track record proves it but their hands are tied. If you ever played a Mike Jones created golf course you know how good he is. Trackman is a business that caters to Sim players using the simulator not a PC and what I don't think Trackman realizes is how important the PC player is as that is where the course designers are not playing the simulators. Unfortunately it's a business and again imo Trackman is missing the boat and should allow conversation between the parties and should be pushing for a new game to come out.

I have had brief PMs with Mike and I can tell you he very much cares about the PC online golf community. I know he cannot comment on development so I know as much as you guys know or maybe less about the future.

He has made mention of PG2 in a way that makes me believe there is a chance we see it. I'm guessing he doesn't have autonomy in that decision or he would've have told us by now.

He is still our greatest ally in the development of PG2 and I think a healthy community, still actively pursuing something special goes a long way to providing him motivation.

There is also some beauty for them to allow a community to push out non licensed courses that their base can still use. I know Trackman facilities running Georgia Pines on their simulators and running JNPG.

Once we stop providing some value, we could be left behind. However, I think we've still got more in the tank for PG1 from a course development standpoint.

Unfortunately, unless you can hack the dlls, we are still limited a bit on the coding side of things. I know Mike has mentioned not allowing third party scripting was probably a mistake. But, they had done that to prevent cheating, which still seemingly occurs anyhow.

This is the only part of your post that I agree with.  I don't think they can talk about it.

I choose to look it differently than you do:

  • It could be they know more than they are allowed to share.
  • If they knew that it wasn't going to happen then I believe it would be hard to get excited about community developments. Hard enough not to take the effort to post like he did recently.

I hear what you are saying, I just don't think that an individuals passion to play in Unity leads to discussions in a forum where he knows the dogs are going to jump him for PG2 info.

Good points jspirate and a good forum has different opinions and that is a good thing. I think tho a tad different opinion that we have we can both agree it's a great game even in it's unfinished state.

DPRoberts,

Thanks for chiming in. I personally have been in situation where I cannot talk about business things. But I wish Mike could at least come in here and tell us something, rather than keeping us hanging.

There was an update was a few weeks ago, but do you feel PP are the odd ones out here with their support compared to other games released 3 years ago? Direct competition TGC1 and TGC2 aren't getting updates. I've heard (but can't confirm) that TGC2019 isn't either.

TGC 19 has got devs chatting in the forums but i don't believe any updates or fixes are being made

but at least they are there to answer questions for folks, only been on there a couple of weeks now but it is an

ok game ,but starting to miss my ol 3 click so you will see me around here a bit more again. the tourney situation over there is good. but

also missing all my ol friends over at PGLS and the folks i used to play multiplayer with. this is still my fav of the 2 it is a better sim and the 3c is the way i like to play the best.

i believe if they would open up a way to let the players make up and run their own country clubs for tourneys this game would have and hold on to many more players and even get a bunch of folks back from TGC not to mention all the converts it would produce so many people there who would jump on being able to play 3c and it would produce so much more to do within the game that is just not there, a lot of folks are into this for the online comp. and the friendships built through the smaller groups. i believe that is something we where promised at first and it just never happened. i started 2 of the country clubs over on PGLS and they are both running good because great folks now run them since i got away from it when the cancer hit me, the other 2 CC over there 1 is shut down and the other is pretty much dead in the water and has moved over to TGC which im now a member in and it thrives over there,. with some work from the dev team here opening up of the country clubs this game could be on fire again, i sure hope something like this will happen here, or if a JNPG 2 comes out it is opened up for people to involve themselves more. folks just want to be more involved.

oh and BTW as for the cancer yesterday i got the news im in remission but will be needing testtostrene treatments and bone hardining shots the rest of my life along with having my chemo port flushed out once a month, in case a return happens no since in having it removed if the stuff comes active again, i did have some damage in my spine area and pain will also be an issue and i will more then likely be on morphine the rest of my life also. so just another crap part of life i was able to beat. now i just can't wait for the long tail and my ZZ top beard to grow back.lol
