I'm paying attention to this, but don't have to much to add yet.

I'm really pretty skeptical that any of the swing is getting touched.

I think this is mostly a content pack that will bring the offering up to what probably should have been the 2019 release.

I'm not sure what to think.  Prior to HB's response to Jeffield I was in 100% agreement with you.  Not I'm in 70% agreement with you.

I won't be surprised if the swing is untouched but HB's recent comments give me SOME hope.

Do we think we will know before it releases or will they just be very coy about it all in hopes to get as many pre-orders locked in as possible?

It doesn’t impact me… I just personally bristle at these companies that ensure to get pre-order pages up but then slow drip actual information for months on end.

I think from a marketing standpoint they likely won't mention any of the things that matter to me and that's understandable.

So short of them interacting and answering questions on their forums then I suspect we won't know until it's released.

Good choice, Justin Thomas, as he looks like a computer character in real life so easily gamified.

Following the discussion on HB forum:

http://www.hb-studios.com/forum/index.php/topic,30167.0.html

Very interesting. All the predictable/understandable/reasonable gripes aside, it's a lively bunch out there with lot's of input/dreams/wishes. But when everything is said and done, TGC/2K21 is alive and kicking and bubbling with anticipation. Good, bad, hopeful or disappointing, its out there and getting better everytime.

Well Buck, occasionally i will pop back in into the ''Ol Lady' but it's getting rarer. To be honest, it took me a while to make the switch. At one point it becomes a hairy situation as the swings (i play with the mouse) differ and going back and forth between the games kind a screws you uh.. both ways  :o  (pardon the pun) and your game goes south in both games.

So i had to make a choice to go with 'the new one' for the forseeable future (which in PG terms probably means a very long time..). Since then (which is since the end of 2019 i guess) i have played almost exclusively on TGC19. Playing live multiplayer and tounaments in 'The Old Goats' society club (with realistic hcps, not the game hcp) is a lot of fun and even though there also are issues in TGC19, i thoroughly enjoy playing it. So, right now, its 1% PG and 99% TGC19.

Yes in fact every Friday night for god knows how long now (almost 10 years for me) there has been a group of us that play online golf together and have gone through a number of games. Currently using PG as TGC2019 limits to 4 players in a round and we play 2-player teams with 8 players showing up usually.

And both games play fine under Linux.

Have not touched it in... well, has to be at least 2-3 months now and when I did play it last, it was only to check out a newly released course.. forgot which one.   The game has gotten so dull and boring for me, there is just no "life" in it.   Yes, I know guys on here will defend it until the end and it is indeed a great value at 20 dollars, but that does not mean anything to me.  I would have paid 60-80 for PG if it was anywhere complete.  Its far from it and knowing it is abandoned, I've even stopped downloading newly released courses.   I do enjoy the forums still though... I read it in the morning with a cup of coffee and before work so, here I am.

Friday nights are reserved for Links2k... still playing with family friends and it is still a blast!    Everything about that game is still just so much fun... everything!

Yeah I quite like playing our team games with 8 people and we need to setup only one round. I think you need to have that option available even if you only have like 4 or less all the time. That and there is no stinking gimmies in TGC, WTF were they thinking? For such a good game they aren't very smart yet. I still enjoy playing TGC 2019 once in a great while but PG is where I will stay for now. I'll buy the new game once it comes out and then decide if I want to play it more but for now it's a much more pain in the ass to setup a game in multiplayer in TGC.

The moderator of the Reddit 2K21 sub collected a series of user questions from various forums about the new game and was able to get 2K/HB Studios to respond to them.  Not all the questions got answers yet, and some were the expected "stay tuned for more details later" answer, but there were a surprising number of objective answers.  Here there are and you can see them in their original form at:  https://www.reddit.c...swers_are_here/

Q&A
The are the answers to some of the questions posted throughout the community. There will be more information released in the coming weeks, but there are some nice tidbits here. Thank you to everyone who posted their questions!

r/PGA_Tour_2K In online matches, will players be able to play "crossplay" with players on other platforms?
HB Studios There will not be any crossplay, but courses designed by our community can be shared across all platforms. Users will be able to import their courses from The Golf Club 2019 and edit them with the new tools and assets available before publishing them in PGA TOUR 2K21.

r/PGA_Tour_2K Will we still have three difficulty levels by way of three different Club Sets (Beginner, Pro and Master)?
HB Studios No, the concept of Club Sets have been removed from the game. There will be more information as we approach launch about the depth of control each user will have over the way the game will play for them. Online play matchmaking will ensure that all players are using the same settings.

r/PGA_Tour_2K So, is equipment cosmetic-only, or does certain equipment increase your MYPLAYER attributes?
HB Studios All apparel items are cosmetic-only. The clubs you choose to assign to your Golf Bag will have an effect on course and we will go into more details for how this will work in the coming weeks.

r/PGA_Tour_2K Is there more officially sponsored equipment and apparel in the game?
HB Studios There is more licensed equipment in PGA TOUR 2K21. The game will have more licensed gear for your MYPLAYER to be outfitted with. We'll share more information at a later date.

r/PGA_Tour_2K By what methods can players unlock the new equipment and apparel?
HB Studios Apparel and Equipment can be unlocked by completing challenges in the game, and also by using in-game currency that can be earned or purchased. Purchase is not required to unlock new gear and items - you can earn in-game currency to unlock this content.

r/PGA_Tour_2K Is there Apparel and Equipment that is exclusively gained through Career Mode?
HB Studios Yes there are, and we will discuss Career Mode in more detail in the coming weeks.

r/PGA_Tour_2K Can players play as their favorite PGA TOUR Pros, or can they only play against them in Career Mode?
HB Studios Players will compete against the TOUR Pros throughout PGA TOUR Career Mode. We will talk more about this mode in the coming weeks - stay tuned!

r/PGA_Tour_2K Will the names of PGA TOUR Pros be used on the leaderboards in Career Mode?
HB Studios Yes, you will see the names of the licensed TOUR Pros on the leaderboards during PGA TOUR Career Mode.

r/PGA_Tour_2K Is there a LPGA Career Mode for the ladies?
HB Studios There is no LPGA Career Mode, but players can created female MYPLAYERs and compete in the PGA TOUR Career.

r/PGA_Tour_2K Will more PGA TOUR Pros be released at a later date?
HB Studios There will not be TOUR Pros available for purchase.

r/PGA_Tour_2K Will more officially licensed coursed be released at a later date?
HB Studios We will discuss post-launch content at a later date.

r/PGA_Tour_2K When creating their MYPLAYERs, will players be able to scan their faces into the game?
HB Studios Face scanning is not a feature in PGA TOUR 2K21 but you can customize the physical appearance of your MYPLAYER using the editing tool.

r/PGA_Tour_2K Will there be lobbies to find online matches?
HB Studios You will be able to set up private matches with your friends or compete in Matchmaking through various head-to-head and team formats.

r/PGA_Tour_2K Will there be an option to concede a hole or concede a putt in online play?
HB Studios There is an option to concede a hole to your opponent.

r/PGA_Tour_2K What new tools are available for Society managers?
HB Studios Society Managers will have more control over restrictions applied to each event and the event creation flow has been overhauled to help streamline creating events and building a season-long TOUR.

The above still applies for me, with one caveat.

Club sets are no longer "a thing".

That could either be a very good thing, or a very bad thing, depending upon what HB/2K have in mind instead and how it's implemented.

Pulled from PG general area where it was off topic

I'm anxious to see how much longer you're going to be able to ride that "content pack" horse you're riding, as more and more depth of what has changed under the hood is revealed

Just to sharpen up on this..
What "under the hood changes" have actually been revealed other than "no more club sets"?

Are you referring to "ProVision" and "Distance Control"?
(whatever those are)

I hope those are features targeted at the realism side and not the arcade side. It's hard to know what to make of stuff like that without the details.

When it gets a catchy feature name, my inclination is to worry that it's really for the arcade side.
...Much like (in-the-air) "spin control" was for TW series.

They haven't revealed in any detail how the under the hood changes are going to affect play.  They've just said it will present more challenge to the experienced player.  One of the things they said would make it more challenging to the experienced player we are told in Shaun West's own words is something called "Distance Control".  They haven't gone into detail as to how that will work.

ProVision is something that's aimed at beginning players.  I don't expect it to offer anything to a skilled player that would interest them.  So it's both... and arcade enhancement in one case it sounds like it's more on the realism side.  Really, I won't know until "we go more into detail about this feature at a later date".

I see the new game now has a power meter, if its nice and granular it could be good, way better than the tempo rubbish they have now.  A good range of partial shots could well be in the new game at last, shame about the bunkers still though...Links courses will never see any justice in TGC/2K21

Now that there is an on screen power meter, why don’t they just go ahead and add three click already?

The mainstream user base they are targeting will use that in much higher numbers than we would think
