Stoney my man, you simply cannot make a bad course.  This is another outstanding one in my opinion.  Cheers!

Is this a real course, if so where is it located?  A Google search lists several courses named Grandview located in Canada as well as the U.S.  There is even one here in the Pittsburgh area, but I am fairly sure it is not that one.

For some reason this incredible design is not available on OGT so there is no official PG scorecard published. Assuming that one has been made, is it possible to provide a link to it?  I like to keep a jpeg copy on my HD that I can print or refer to when setting up a round.

Arsam, this is a version of Chambers Bay.  I see it on OGT under Grandview Drive.  There is a scorecard pic as well.

Here is the scorecard:

Was looking forward to playing this, i love the chambers bay design...however i was really disappointed with it, chambers has plenty of grass surrounding the FW's tees and greens, there was no grass planting at all here.  Hole 5 has a bunker right in the middle of the green, the bunker is not on the green, the green does however wrap around part of the bunker, i hit an approach into the wind and settled in front of the bunker with putter in hand, this has to be amended.  There is also no texture blending going on with the edge of the rough to the terrain, it all looks a bit fake and obvious.  I don't like to be critical when it comes to user courses as i know the work that goes into them, but this just feels like its been rushed,  designer really needs to go back in and add a lot more work.

Edit: i notice this thread is Beta yet the course file is final...maybe its still in beta and more work is coming?

I did not get to holes 16 and 17  is there a train track running parallel with these holes, its pretty straight if i remember and would be real easy to incorporate.

Simply no need for that response, any critique is supposed to aid a designer, these issues needed to be pointed out, especially the bunker in the middle of the green on hole 5 which does not exist in real life, as for being a novice, you have many courses out there now, you are far from a novice, just need to take more time and care, not saying you cannot do it, you prob could, if its a fictional course then you dictate the look and feel, if its a real course you should be looking to  do it justice to a point...hope that helps.

Try not to take it too personally… I think he was really just trying to provide some good and accurate feedback.
It's a different deal when doing a real course re-creation, obviously, as people naturally are going to directly compare it to the real course.

I didn't wanna say anything because I didn't want to pile on but I also agree with Doggs. It's not quite polished and complete enough relative to the real world course for me personally.

Please take no offense as I don't mean to impart any. I did actually do what you suggested to him and then I just quietly deleted it and moved on.

If you do rework it and add to it and iron out some more of the kinks I'll be excited to try it out though for sure.
Thanks so much for your efforts either way

The beauty is you have the course project and could open it up and carry on working with it, Chambers is a fun course and would be a huge hit with everyone, you could even put a moving train on the tracks that run past 16 and 17, i did it with lost tracks back when i was a complete novice, i just googled the information and did it, its nothing to do with being skilled, its just finding tutorials for unity on youtube, i had no idea how to do it, and have actually forgotten now, i would have to google it again if i was to try it once more. fictional courses come and go, courses that get the most plays are real ones, so they deserve more attention.

I play the fictional courses far more than the real ones.  Real courses usually have boring play to me.  They tend to have far too many straight type holes.

Stoney, disregard what is being posted as your course plays flawlessly and looks great.

Again you are in the minority, you do no favors to the designer by gushing over a course that has major omissions, why dont you go and play hole 5, the one with a bunker on the green, hit your approach just below the bunker then stand there with putter in hand with no shot option...then come back and say it plays flawlessly.  The designer obviously looked at the heightmap and thought it appeared that the bunker was on the green...ITS NOT!  little bit of research will tell you that.  considering its not fictional i'm surprised you actually like it, i guess you assumed it was fictional.  Sorry GB you don't know what you are talking about.

DoGgs,

in general I agree with everything that you are saying about real course design, but in fairness to stoney hole 5 short of the bunker is marked as green but plays as fairway so all shots are available.  I placed my ball there in practice mode 32 yds from the pin and \ was able to make a Fop shot over the bunker.

Just checked that out and could change to a full shot, you cannot however perform a flop shot or chip, go try again and see, you must have played a full shot unless there are certain restrictions playing TP.   A full shot is prob easy to do with 3C, not so easy with RTS-C.  This does not change the fact that the bunker is not situated on the green, on the map stoney used it may look like it does, its hard to tell on some maps, that's why you should research each hole.  I also hit a stray approach at another hole that rolled down a steep banking to the right of the green, no matter what shot i played the ball kept hitting the banking because it was so steep and rolled back to my golfer, a couple of hazards may be required to mark out this area and possibly one or two others as the course has a few drop offs.

It may be a TP restriction, but I play at Pro Level and I definitely hit a full flop shot with a 56 wedge. I had considered trying a full shot with my 64 wedge, but saw the all shots were available. I play RTS-M and you are correct that that short of a full shot is very difficult, but I have done it in the past.
