This is the first time I've ever tried laying out a fictional course over a real piece of terrain - Standley Lake is a huge reservoir in northwest Denver that has a fairly large recreation area and park on the southern side of it, and on many days in mid summer you can see boats everywhere.

I've always felt an undeveloped area to the north and west of the lake was suitable for a great golf course..... so I put in a request for lidar, and got it. The result is this course.

In keeping with the wide open, rural feel of this one I've decided to be economical with tree planting, only adding large trees in areas where there are existing stands of trees. I've also tried to be very minimalist with the elevation; generally most of the holes are laid out exactly as the land does, although I've added some mounding in places and also improved some tee shots that were blind. Other than that, there has been an effort to manipulate the land as little as possible.

I have it on for the bottom two photos and off for the top one. It actually looks good both ways; generally the wide lake view looks better with reflective off but the closer shots look better with it on. When I play I generally toggle it on and off depending on my mood.

I'm hoping to post the beta tonight or tomorrow.

Good luck with this Matt. Would definitely fall in the 'fictional could be real' category seeing as it is on a real plot of land.

Many times on trips on the train through the UK countryside, I would see areas where I would imagine a few golf holes meandering amongst the trees and rivers. Glad you're giving the same ideas a go. I'm sure it will be a usual top notch Mr Rose release.

Looks excellent.  You always kill it with the planting Matt.

I've gone ahead and made a version available for public release. This one hasn't been beta tested quite as thoroughly as other courses of mine have, for reasons unknown, so I hope there aren't too many warts.

I'll put out a fix if any bugs come up, otherwise I'm probably going to move on to other things.

We (4 of us) think the lengths are wrong, anyone else think that. Or it's that far up it catches the Jet Stream.

Bounces are a bit hard for normal,

We figure its at altitude, but how high? that's the question .

Altitude is about 5300 feet. It's a fictional course but the landplot is real and it's in Colorado.

I've made a small cosmetic update; mainly just some adjustment to the textures. A couple guys had informed me that the fresnel / bump intensity might have been too much when playing on closeup camera views, so I've reduced those a bit and tried to color adjust so things blend a little better.

I also built a new tee on #13. Otherwise the course is essentially unchanged. The version will be called 1.1
