Try each choice for putting.  Also, keep in mind that your custom player settings work for fun rounds.  If you play any Official, Public or Private tournaments those settings will be temporarily changed to default levels for Amateur, Pro and Tour Pro.

New user here, wondering if there is some way to access a putting green to practice putting.  I fully get that the developers want it to be difficult and match real life, but if we can practice swinging distance clubs we ought to be able to practice putting as well.  I lose interest when I get the ball to the green in something close to regulation and then turn into Charles Barkley with the putter and eventually write a 14....

When you set up a game you can use the "Practice" mode, you can find that in the drop down list.  Then select your course and conditions and practice all the shots including putts.

Have fun

You are best to go to woody's in practice mode and practice putting there. If you look at your meter like a clock face you can make your self a quick cheat sheet for distances on each stimp. ie on 12 stimp, and yes it is stimp and not stemp,  9 o'clock gets you 36 feet. I say do it your self because you may have a different view of how you look at 9 o'clock on the meter. If you use the dots on the meter  which is prob easiest you can do it for each dot and then you will just have to worry bout the line.

But what I am seeing is the real-time swing, which I prefer, but which is amazingly difficult to control when putting, because the arc of the swing is contained in such a small portion of the screen and you see it from behind.  Might be better to aim, right-click, then switch the view to a close-up of the putter's backswing from the side.  Or maybe a POV shot from the eyes of the golfer down on the ball and putter.

you can do the same thing as suggested for 3 click for rtm... You do need to change your pov to across from golfer or at a 45 deg ang. I found it very hard to judge fine distances from the behind view...

Sounds like a good suggestion, but after a session of trying different things I cannot figure out what options I need selected to get the 'across from golfer' POV while putting.  I am a bit baffled by many of the settings options and what they all mean; some documentation would be nice.  Another thing that I wonder about: bluetooth mouse; is it possible there are periodic lapses in transmission and should I switch to some sort of gaming mouse?  Maybe this is the real source of my Charles Barkley swing while putting...  :)

Try this. this is how i putt most of the time.  It's for controller but would also apply to mouse. I don't know the keys for this on the KB as i use controller buttons but i'm sure someone could post them here for you.
