Perhaps not a disappointment to many here, but I personally do like having competition in a given niche. It’s better for everyone.

What did they do? I was going to open up a thread asking about EA coming out with a new golf game until I read this. I guess this kind of answers my question. I just wish that TGC would have a 3 click option. I still can't seem to get my swing down with the controller stick.

The demise of both Links and TW although two totally different platforms strangely travelled down the same road of doom. Links featured the Arnold Palmer Course Designer (APCD) and continued offering it in L2k3. I think Arnold himself was mainly responsible for the continuation. The APCD even by todays standards is a very sophisticated designing tool. Used by many but mastered by not so many. The interface of the 2k3 platform is still very appealing because it offers many features and options. In short, it was well thought out. I think what the developers underestimated were the talents of the community designers. In a short period of time the community designers were rendering courses superior to the stock courses that the guys were getting paid for to design. So the community used the core of the game and the APCD to create custom designs and killed the market for stock course purchase. Custom patches were introduced to somewhat update an aging platform. When a inquiry was made about the purchase of the game codes in order to update the entire platform, the reply from ownership was , the codes were lost and nowhere to be found. REALLY? In regards to TW and EA Sports there exist some peculiar similarities. TW had a Course Architect all the way up to 2006. In TW07, TW08 and beyond, no CA was ever reinstated. Why? Take a guess. Here as well, The community designers were providing far better looking courses than the stock ones that were offered by the EA designers. Because of the talent and knowledge of the community we would have had zero custom courses for both the 07 & 08 TW platforms. They were able to tweak the 06 CA after a lot of experimentation and make it workable in 07 & 08. Here again, we are using EA's game and making it our game so as to speak. No money in that is there? Course revenue certainly would help in keeping a Sim alive. My question to you guys is, ("Are You Getting A Funny FEELING YET")?

I regularly see EA on the list of worst companies to work for.

Good idea Buck, perhaps we could have a spit option if we miss a putt!

Don't care either way - just want a big player back in the golf gaming space.
Competition and options --- would LOVE that Rory Frostbite engine to get new life.
