I didn't want to hijack the Colonial thread any further, so I thought I'd move the discussion to a new topic.

I feel sufficiently happy with the results of Crooked Stick that I decided to experiment with #15 on Spyglass and I think I'm falling in love with it....

great idea.so how big can you make it then? and is it going to play as water or sand? if this works, boy this is going save a lot of work.

Excuse me Matt, (not on subject with this thread) Did you decide to do 13th tee golf course...links are my favorite...due to my wayward drives tall grasses, bunkers are easier on my handicap than playing wack-e-mo with trees....lol ;)

Take care bud,

Gil

oops that may not be the correct name of the course, if I remember it is a links course Aus?

You can make it any size you want; but for it to work it has to have a spline all the way around the outside of it. The good news is that you can bury part of it under the water if you don't want it to go all the way around the water - you have to make sure there's a reasonable gap though between the two splines if you are on a downslope as you will get some pretty ugly broken terrain artifacts.

You also don't have to set it as a bunker; I have it as a second pot bunker texture called "Pot Bunker 2" and I just swapped the sand out with an earth texture and I used the rock wall as the sod wall texture.

Bortimus explains it pretty well in the Colonial thread:

Re: 13th beach - Perhaps in the future. I honestly don't know enough about it at this point that I'd be concerned with doing it right.... but I may be headed to Oz in the back half of the year, so maybe I should check it out.

I kinda got my hands full right now though; I have to finish two courses by mid-April for the OGT deadline.
