Just out of curiosity what do most people here have set in there audio for background sounds? I am trying to design for this because you'd like to have background sounds but you don't want it to be annoying. I like Hazeltine's sound file I made as it had the tree wind plus some birds but I also have been playing with my audio background noise set to 15 because I mainly play with my friends and want to hear them on discord when they talk. I am doing something but don't want say just incase it never shows up but I want to set my audio to what most people have it at and adjust in course forge from that so it's not to overpowering.

I am now at 50 for background sound.

I've recycled some old loops from Links 2003. Usually set the volume at about half.

Whatever you do please don’t add any hyper annoying insects like on hidden Canyon.

Playing that course the other night was the first time I had turned off my game audio in a while

I think breeze, water lapping on shorelines, gentle river sounds, an occasional bird and other indigenous creature sounds. All of these are fine as long as they are set to 30% sound level.

I mostly like ball impact sounds therefore I have the background sounds disabled because there are too many squawking birds or loud bug sounds.

I often have to set mine to 5-10% with in-game at 100%. With some courses I've had to turn it off altogether. Like being at a zoo at feeding tine. A bit like background music in film, it's best when you don't consciously notice it but it subtly adds to the mood.
