I purchased a new Gaming PC and I need some help with transferring my existing copy of JNPG to the new box.  Do I just copy the existing PG folder to the new computer or is there a way to reinstall it on the new PC within Steam.  I would assume that I would have to uninstall the game from the old PC as the licensing agreement probably does not allow multiple copies from the initial purchase.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can install it on multiple machines, you just can't run them simultaneously.

If it were me, I'd install Steam on the new computer and then try copying over the JNPG folder to your new computer.  Then I'd use the "check game files" option to ensure all is good.  Definitely keep your courses folder and your saved shots/rounds along with any autoexec.cfg customizations you use (if applicable).  All of these files can be copied over to your new install once it's working.

Just reinstall, the game itself is a rather tiny download (around 4Gb) and shouldn`t take long. Maybe just transfer the old Courses folder to the new install on the new machine.

This route would be the easiest. I’m sure there are registry entry’s you would need to backup as well. Not worth the hassle. The one thing I would do is make a copy of the course file to transfer to the new machine.

Thanks to all for your response. As to a reinstall option, I am not able to find a selection for this on Steam. There is a option to uninstall JNPG, but not installing. Possibly I must uninstall on the old PC then there will be a option to install on the new PC. If this is the case, would I have to repurchase the game.

No, it will automatically show up under your games list in Steam. It will just show "not installed" under status. If you double click the game it will start to download.

Steam will recognise that the game is now on a different platform and will ask you to log in with your username and password. Then it will set the new machine as the default one for running the game.

Follow the instructions on copying your Courses Folder onto an external Drive or large Flash Drive (dongle).  Then you can copy them all back to your new installation Courses Folder.
