I'm going back through the US Open Pebble and putting in pins for the four days of the tournament.

What does everyone normally do with four pins? Do you have one easy, one hard, and two medium?

Do you set the difficulty subjectively, or do you set all the "1s" to "easy" so that choosing easy will get you all the pins for Day 1 etc... or is there a way to set it up so that you get all the 1 pins?

Matt,

Since there only three categories of pin difficulty (easy, medium, and difficult) and there are four days to a tournament - that doesn't match well.

Like you said, all pin 1's for Thursday, all pin 2's for Friday, ect.  Any extra pin 5's and 6's use for the Pro-Am pins (as they my be used in future US Opens).

John

Well, I've done 1-4 to match the four rounds, but obviously the difficulty won't always match up unless I set it that way. Can this be controlled in tournament setup?

I though the pin difficulty was at the designer's discretion.

pin numbers used for each round are done at setup, so you can pick all no 1s or no 2s if desired.

you can pick any pin at set up. eliminating the the need for any descriptive adjective assigned to any pin. then it is on the tourn director. if you have 4 pins we just choose what pin number for that hole, then the next hole we can use an entirely different pin. the game itself is what uses the easy med difficult assignments.

Ok, cool. I had a feeling you could but I wasn't sure. I have 1 easy, 1 hard, and 2 medium. I felt that was probably the best balance.

I had to soften the 13th green a little bit to make it work as there was a 3% slope where the front pin was.
