I have a 250GB SSD, and it keeps getting fuller with the addition of courses, and program files, along with Windows operating system. I'm down to 72GB left.  I have two external hard drives. One is 1TB and the other is 2TB. I also have a HHD that is 1TB. Can I move my PG courses to one of them? If so, how do I make Steam recognize where they are?

Thank you for any suggestions.

I don't think you can move just the courses (I could be wrong), but you can move the entire game and its courses to another drive.  These instructions will allow you to move individual games:

https://www.howtogee...downloading-it/

The following instructions from Steam allow you to move your entire Steam library to a different drive:

take out your courses folder and save it to your data drive.

uninstall steam and when you reinstall it it will ask you where to put it.

then put the courses folder where it belongs, saves any downloading time on the courses.

i only keep windows on my SSD everything else is on the data drive.

the SSD is used as a boot drive this way.

Nobody has ever tried to symlink the courses folder? I haven't but now I may just do that when the tropical weather subsides.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>mklink
Creates a symbolic link.

MKLINK [[/D] | [/H] | [/J]] Link Target

/D Creates a directory symbolic link. Default is a file
                symbolic link.
/H Creates a hard link instead of a symbolic link.
        /J Creates a Directory Junction.
Link Specifies the new symbolic link name.
Target Specifies the path (relative or absolute) that the new link
                refers to.

This is what I did.  Steam and the game reside on my D: drive and my courses are kept on an external drive.  Works just fine.

Cool, I use it for other purposes, just had no idea what the game would think of it.

Wow! JoeF, just Wow. That is exactly what I want to do. I have no idea if there is a PM utility on this forum, but if there is, I would appreciated an instruction how to do it. I'm and 'end-user', not a computer whiz, so I need step by step if you don't mind. Thanks in advance.

BACKUPS before baby steps!

Also, why do people always insist on PMs for stuff others might find helpful?

Unfortunately I did this several years ago after seeing someone mention it in a post.  Cannot for the life of me remember how I actually did it.  I may have Googled "making a symbolic link" to get it right.  Good luck.

Did a quick search on the forum and found the post I referred to above.

Quote:

You can use Symlink Creator to create a symbolic link, its free and its portable. You keep your course folder in the game, but move all your courses from that folder to any other folder on your computer. Then create a symbolic link using Symlink Creator, your source would be were ever you moved the courses and your destination would be the courses folder in the game. It only takes a few seconds to do, here is a link to Symlink Creator below.

You have a point, Mulligan.

I had two reasons for asking for a PM. 1. I assume everyone else here already knows how to do it. 2. I didn't want to intrude on everyone else in this thread.

Thank you, JoeF. I will see what I can figure out. I already have every course I have downloaded saved on an external drive in preparation for the inevitable crash. :)

I tried the solution posted by JoeF above, and it worked perfectly (pun intended)!! I just gained 65GB storage on my SSD. Thank you so much JoeF.
