Well, one of the things that I like about PC gaming that I don't even know if you can do on a console is the keyboard and mouse. I am not a good gamer but it has always been more of a struggle to get used to a controller than keyboard and mouse.

Just like every previous generation of consoles, specs are good when they are first release.  6 months later the hardware is surpassed by newer tech on PC, 2 years later the hardware is way behind capabilities of mid range PC's by that time.  You are basically "stuck" in time until the next console rolls out years later.  With a decent PC build you can take advantage of small upgrades to keep up with technology for quite a while, notably the video card.

Then you throw in the ability to mod/extend many PC games.  JNPG community is a perfect example, imagine if we had gotten stuck with some limited crap course designer like TGC?   And even that series has been extended on PC with the user created tool for importing lidar based terrain.

Read the comments below the article for more key points.  Consoles are great for people that have no desire to do anything but play games.

The price of the games will send many scurrying back to steam, really don't know how they justify it, i would never pay console prices...not ever!

I've been using a keyboard and mouse since day I bought my Xbox1.

Disagree with this statement..  I use it for games, yes, but also watching tv, streaming music, movies, skype is cool too..  I don't browse the web though, that is a pain.

Please forgive my ignorance, how do you do this, and can it be done with a PlayStation 4? If possible, I might begin to get much more enjoyment out of my PS4 because I no matter how I try cannot master the controller.

Your PS4 should have at least 2 USB ports I would think. Just plug your mouse and keyboard in and it should work. At least it’s that easy on an Xbox. I think wireless would be the same. Just plug the dongles into the usb outlets as well.

That's a good article Mark, and I agree with most of what they said.  I do game on both my gaming PC and my two consoles, an XBox One X and a PS4.  I'd say I'm on the consoles 80% of the time and the PC the remaining 20%.  I'm pretty savvy at building PCs and maintaining them, but I gotta confess... I get frustrated with wrestling with some PC game and software installation issues.  Windows 10 has helped some, but the consoles are pure install and play, with no worries about driver updates or incompatibilities.

That said, I don't see my desire for gaming on my PC ending anytime soon... at least not until they put iracing, Perfect Golf, and Assetto Corsa Competizione on the XBox Series X (which BTW, Assetto Corsa Competizione is coming to XBox One in June, at least at this time).  OTOH, I just went through a hand-wringing experience trying to get Tiger Woods 08 installed on my Windows 10 PC.  I had it working for a while, but I wasn't quite happy with the graphics settings I was trying to use.  I continued fiddling with it until I got it to the point that I can't get the mouse to select anything within the game.  I gave up on it in frustration and deleted it from my hard drive.   Ten years ago I'd have plugged away at it until I got it.  Now my frustration threshold is reached much sooner  :)

You cannot just plug in a mouse and keyboard, it will not work.   You will need a 3rd party device that you can "map" your PS4 or Xbox1 controller, to your keyboard and mouse via bluetooth.

I have the XIM4 and here is the company that makes these devices.

https://xim.tech/

I use it for all my Battlefield or FPS games, RDR2, and others... but obviously need it for other titles where a controller would be better to use.
