I have no idea..  its the only way I enjoy playing Links, with family/friends.   I tried multiplayer in PG many times, and its painful.  Slow connections with people connecting from across the globe, taking several minutes calculating their shots, players disconnecting after 2 holes because they hit a few bad shots...  its crap.

I think I must be one of the lucky ones,  I play PG multiplayer twice a week and seldom have issues.  I am in the UK and friends I play with online are in Australia.  Sometimes 2 sometimes 3 but since the lockdown (in whatever forms) started we have had no failures.  I have also played Links a few times and the IP to IP experience is similarly flawless.  The point being that both games work online for me even on Windows 10!

I have been playing multiplayer using all game formats going back to 2015 when I bought the game and online play has always worked fine for me.  Mailman, I don't think you are one of the lucky ones as I have never heard complaints from the people I have played with in regards to multiplayer.    I have had rounds with players from Australia, UK, Netherlands, USA, Canada, Sweden to name the countries I can remember.  The rounds were foursomes, threesome and twosomes.  I play multiplayer more than solo.  I am still using Windows 7 and will be upgrading to Windows 10 next month.

I have been playing online since 2015 and never had any issues, except for a short period I had to move my pc to a room two floors upstairs from the modem with bad wifi like 5 mb sec but the real issue was extemely slow response time (found that out later)

And I don´t think I have experienced more than a couple of rage quits all these years.

In agree with Joe men lots of fun playing online random head to head games. But it is a slight worry as they are now harder to find. Used to be able to jump into an alt 9 match easily ,now they are almost extinct

I believe Mike said the gameplay is peer to peer,  the connections are done using Steam.

Hell yes I was wrong.  And that is a good thing.  We'll see what the near future brings. :)
