there is a program available that will help people experiencing issues with the amount of ram available to the game.

http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.php

the performance of the game is directly affected by the amount of available ram.

the game booster program shuts down unneeded processes and background services, freeing up ram available to the game.

i installed it on my XP rig that only has 3 gigs of available ram and it helped a good deal with the performance.

if you are having performance issues give this a try.

thx for this link i used it before so no harm downloading it again - though google doesn't seem to like it - is anyone else having problems with google downloading stuff, it wouldn't let me download YTD the other day (thats you tube downloader) - I just went to Maxthon and it downloaded it without a quarrel......google are obviously shaking hands with you tube and any of the other mega corps to form some kind of fascist alliance, same goes with their search engine - it omits stuff the mega corps don't like up their, so i use this one instead...

https://duckduckgo.com/

and it doesn't track your searches either.

go **** yourself google.

Thanks for the link.

Gave it a shot but it didn't seem to make a single frame of difference on my setup unfortunately.

I changed my virtual memory from 'system managed' (which it was using about 4-5 GB of hard drive space plus my 3 GB of system RAM) to 'custom size" and set it to use 16 GB of my hard drive.  That seems to have helped my game play experience.  I've even increased the tree billboard distance to 500 (max) and turned the grass object distance to 250 (mid) and I'm getting 20-25 fps in a 1176x664 window.

My system is below the minimum PG requirements:

If you're going to use gamebooster, make sure you use the older version.. if you are directed to Razer, be warned that Cortex is buggy, I got rid of it and forced back on Game Booster. Oddly on my game rig I don't use it, seems to actually cause more issues that it solves.

... the pitfalls of screwing with VM and gaming..  hehehehe

That'd make sense, since Google actually owns Youtube...

That's because you have a pc with loads of ram so freeing up more won't help.  :)

IKR? :D

It's like the memory cleaners people use... Play with someone who's always going on about using one, how he "feels better" when his maching is showing he has like 10GB free upon freeing up memory, that his game runs smoother. Yaaaaa not so much. Sitting with 75% of your ram idle and free is a stupid way to use your computer and in most cases make everything run like crap. Having your ram being utilized by memory managed programs and allowing it to 'work' the way its supposed is a good thing.

If you have over 12GB there is no reason you should be running anything to optimize or free resourcse, not going to help in any way.

i posted it for the people who may be running XP like i do on my Cad Rig.
it has 4 gigs of ram but XP will only use 3.
the game was borderline without the program helping.
my bench rig running at 5GHZ, 8 gigs of ram, and WIN7 64 bit runs the game smooth as butter.
i turn down the overclock to 4.5 to avoid issues and it just purrs right along

on the XP rig...1920X1080 on low with sliders at 300, 250, 150, and 1000. 30-40 FPS.

that is with the Gamebooster cleaning the ram.

on the bench rig... 1920X1080 on medium with sliders at 400, 300, 200, and 1250. 30-40 FPS.

both machines have older video cards.

3780X2's (two 1 GIG GPUS) one has two installed and the other is only a single card.

since unity doesn't support multiple GPUS it only sees one GPU on each machine.

if Unity would use the Crossfire and all 4 GPUS i could probably run the bench rig on Ultra High wide open.

these machines are about 7 years old but the CPUs are engineering samples and overclock very well.

i am going to build a sure enough beast when i get my tax return.
