well at least you can see what its relative to - that line tells me nothing really, it looks half-assed.
Like we used to say to folks in Links 2003 when they were first trying the BLI, try using it with the grid enabled and then you get a feel for what the BLI is trying to tell you.
Surprising after a while that players can then advance to using the BLI on its own.
It seems that because you don't know what it is telling you, you're saying it's half arsed and wanting to turn it off.

L,
As we don't have BLI in real life, what would be natural?
Just a bad choice of word. Try neutral, or unobtrusive.

oh yes i see it now - lols, is that what it is - i thought someone must have left a piece of limp lettuce stuck on the end of the flagstick, hahaha
it's pathetic PP
can we have a permanent grid as an option that stays on the green and is moveable and dots change accordingly.
break line indicator - pfffft

I remember you telling us a while ago that PG was the best video game ever, no argument! ;-)

Don't you mean half-arsed! An Ass is similar to a donkey. ;-)
I think he means Zebroid..................... ![]()

I'm sure some guys wont be happy until they get a six inch grid over the whole course and up their trouser leg, a BLI that nudges the ball back when it strays off course, a furrow that the ball falls into with little powered rollers that propel your ball to the hole, a set of mathematical tables that comes with a slide rule and a community that agrees with them. Try this. Aim in the general direction of the hole and give it a whack. (love the distance flag on the gauge and the BLI btw). If you three putt............get over it.

Still be less accurate than the BLI in use... You can see the whole ball path through the putt... Once you get a feel for how to aim/adjust for the indicator of it, it's so much more accurate than the grid it's laughable.

Just to back up turbine about BLI visibility here are a couple of pics from a round played yesterday.
In the first one near to the position of the ball the BLI line is pretty faint but just readable.

In the second one I've moved the pole up to the hole but I can't see any line indicator.

That's the bug posted in all the other BLI threads when you play in mist etc. It's supposed to be dark. We are experimenting with different colours to see what works best under all conditions.

Wait just one minute Mike, I thought this was a done deal. 'The Richard BLI' will be 'WHITE' under all courses and playing conditions. Don't make me start campaigning again!! ![]()

I can just hear Richard now.....
Awww c'mon Mike, play the white man.
Yup, got my blood flowing again. So as a reminder:
'The Richard BLI' needs to be 'WHITE' in all playing conditions, period. I've been pushing this but to no avail. It's impossible to use playing early morning, late afternoon when the shadows rule. Might be OK at high noon on a course with no trees, but IMHO, that's about it. I love it, use am not happy with its appearance.

Ya.. I kinda thought White had been decided upon...

Absolutely true! The BLI has won me over - Now excited for it to be a color I can always see. :-)

Playing another round this morning with fresh eyes.
Man the BLI is simply amazing.
Transformative for me.
Definitely done with grids here.

Yup, I agree 100% and won't it be great when the BLI is a proper color?

Sorry I don't get it. The whole trying to make it as "real as possible" and yet we see club distances, distance percentage indicators, lie indicators bli and or green grids? Sure these could or in fact should be options but to be again "as real as possible" just have better cameras like (Yes here we go again) TW does. In the lower levels yes you can use green grids and yes all the other information is there too but played on expert and that all disappers and no there is no option to have them on if you play at that level. The big advantage of the cameras TW have is they give you a general idea of lie and slope and green breaks but it is still a guess. Better graphics as far as seeing if you are in knee deep rough or if its just ankle deep plus the roughs are labeled as far as where your ball ends up. In other words you hit it into the rough (which I do quite often) and it notifies you its either light medium or deep or even weed rough you still have to know your clubs though and how far they will hit out of such roughs.
My point is if you want to play as close to real as possible then bli's green grids etc are not really pointing you in that direction. Having the ability to tell by looking at the breaks in greens or how deep the guak is on your legs is. Sorry but that is where TW does out shine PP Simply better cameras and better visibility on the different textures. If PP could replicate that then they have it nailed.

You aren't by any change Axe 360 posting under another name, are you?
Your post makes some very good points. But, unfortunately I'm not in a position to comment since I've never played TW. I'll leave the comments to those that have the knowledge.
Good Post!

Rich,
This BLI that folks are using. Any chance you could remind us all what colour you think it should be?

I totally agree that all the assists should be gone - In Pro Mode.
When and if that mode comes to be, that's how I'll be playing.. I'd much rather read the green, read the lie I'm left. But until that happens, I use MS/NA and use the BLI.
