Ted I can't play for 10 days as I am out of town and no PC with me and you play my favorite course. Lol. I will give it a go when I get back and that is an interesting setup as it might make you keep the Big Dog in the bag. Shadowlands and Las Joyas are two of my favorite courses for links and shadowlands will be a stiff test and under par will be a good score. Good luck and stay in the short stuff.

G.....the thread will still be active when you get back so you can play a round then. That should give you time to see the scores to beat.

Yeah, I'm liking what I've seen so far. The course draws you in and then whacks you with the water holes. Played the Pro-Am now going out for my first tournament round. Small crowd following me - just Mum and Dad.  HEY - NO CAMERAS!!!

A thoroughly enjoyable first round 75. A really well designed course with plenty of replayability. Can't wait for my second round. Loved the conditions and coupled with a great layout makes for thoughtful shot-making (and not worry and angst). That 13th!

Ted my gut tells me that if we have Shadowlands and Crystal Pines we will someday see Las Joyas and Cara Brae and those type of courses on this game would be an absolute wonder to play. Now just give me Tall Pines and I will be in video golf heaven.

-3, MS, Min/Min , BLI

First of all: These hardness settings on the greens .....  i don't like it. Way too bouncy. I have never seen that on any tournament i've ever watched. Couldn't get a 60 wedge to hold. (The fairways are another story. I liked to see a ball running of the fairway into the rough)

I came away with one bogey in the first 6 holes when i really had to learn the ball behaviour on the greens. Then i took advantage of the par 5s and of some pin positions in the back of the greens. Nailed a 31 footer and a 29 footer. And i avoided any three-put.

I was never comfortable under these conditions and played a better score then i felt. What was very interesting though: If your head is spinning about lofts and shot shapes in order to get to the flags .....  you sometimes loose your concentration to execute the shot. Just like real golf, is it? :P

Wow that is bouncy! After a shocking 87 where I barely hit a fairway I had another round and shot a very decent (for me) 73 +1 min/min BLI MS F8 S11.

Greens are much more friendly than Illinois. I realise now the difficulty seems to be based purely on the position of the flag rather than any consideration of the slope it is on.

Yeah, that's how I understand it. Put the flag behind bunkers, near severe run-offs, close to the water edge so that scoring favours the brave. No pin should be on slopes. I've played courses where pins are on harsh slopes but that doesn't mean its acceptable. It doesn't have to be perfectly level - just relatively flat.

The bounce and roll was interesting. It can be used to your advantage. Fading or drawing in from the side (around bunkers) for example. I found it was preferable to trying to dial in exact distances for approach shots and a 300+ drive is never a disadvantage. But I suppose it's good to have experience in all conditions.

40-38-78 (+6)  3 click Bounces were excessive to say the least. Had to club down and hope the ball would bounce up close to the hole (which it never did). Couldn't buy a putt, including missing a seven footer on 18 for eagle. Not my best effort.

I look forward to seeing those courses. I wonder what Mike will shoot here now that he's in good form.

I have to keep switching between dev builds and released builds so my form will probably be anything but consistent!

3Clicker.  Shot an 83 which included a 13 on hole #13.  Have to say my least favorite round since signing on to PG.  I've never seen a ball bounce the way it did with the firmness setting.  Just for fun, I may take a crack at this course again after toning down the firmness setting.  Kudos to the players that scored under par on this course with these settings.

+2 (74)

none/none

By far my best no aids round. Was -1 after 13, but a double at 15 killed me.

+5 77. I'm pretty sure I put a ball in the water on every hole that had water except nine. I threw one in there after the round just for the sake of completeness, you know, just in case there was an achievement for it or something. :)
