-2 (MS), Min aids, BLI. That was extremely challenging, especially with the firmness on the greens. I have to say that I think it was unrealistically bouncy though.

Yeah, fair enough. I'm inclined towards the firmer tracks for the challenge they provide. There is a visual element that does seem to over-emphasize the bounce though - and that was only Firmess 8. I don't mind the extra run but I suppose I'm used to dry Australian fairways. We actually looked forward to really dry, drought periods. Nevertheless, the greens were well-watered and never too hard or bouncy.
I really enjoyed going back to Shadowlands because I felt that I could put a good round together eventually. Unfortunately, with the firmness and the difficult pins, I couldn't avoid a bogey or two or more each round. It's such a well-balanced course with a good mix of par 3s, challenging par 4s with some short ones as well. I tried so hard to be under par coming to the last so that I might jag an eagle and hit the lead. In the final analysis you really have to putt well to score well.
So for the final round of the tournament schedule it's off to Willow Heath where we'll try the softer settings. That means we will have trialled a range of wind, firmness, stimps and tees.

Birdied the last two hole for an even round 72. Played 3C, min/min and breezy.

Shot a -4/68 - MS, minimum aids, bli only in required conditions. Managed to stay away from the water the entire round for a change. My distance control was really working for me, especially on approach shots needing to get to the right tier. On the par 3 10th (the hole with the pin tucked to the right near the waters edge) aiming for the centre of the green then hitting just enough of a fade to work with the wind and watching the ball curve to the pin was an absolute delight.

I tried this one a couple of times and just found the bounce and release just too unrealistic. I live in the praries and have played many municipal courses and even during a drought and watering the course is at a bare minimum I have never seen a ball bounce like its on concrete. Playing a sw from under 100yards into a wind and landing in the middle of the green should not bounce off. With these settings it was like I was playing with one of those rubber Super Balls. If this was tour play and the greens were that firm they would either water the greens between groups or probably suspend play. In my opinion again these settings are just unrealistic.

+2 round for me with 3C. Chip in birdie on the 18th to salvage something. Min aids and breezy. I'm pretty happy with that.
