TGC's original charter was to have cross platform play and cross platform course sharing.  They're saying the reason they can't do cross-platform play at this point is because of the gamertag issue.  One platform's name restrictions are different than others, so a PS4 gamertag might not be legal on XBox Live, and vice-versa.  HBS says the way the username restrictions work right now, the best they could do would be to have you playing against someone called "TGC Member" in live or ghost ball play.  That would really narrow it down, wouldn't it?

I think they'll eventually figure out a way to register TGC players names such that their platform's gamertag is somehow connected to a centrally registered TGC member name.  That TGC membername could be formatted in such a way that the player had their personal tag with a designator at the beginning or ending of the TGC member name that would indicate what platform they were playing on.  There will be some who will be playing on more than one platform and you'd probably want to know what platform they played a given round under.

Hi all,

I am a simulator fan, but sometimes i only think that the consoles are driven for arcade game only but lately they are working quite well and sure it depends on the games.

Anyway i got myself back to the Computer as an old "child" just to find out the good simulation close to the reality...

I know this Thread started quite sometime back, but I could not believe a guest from EA would post rubbish abour PP, after the croc of crap debacle, that TWO ended up, one of the biggest failures of TWO was that EA failed to listen to those who were invited to Beta it, they rushed it out as far as I was concerned and even their strongest supporters, who were also TW long time supporters, and helped run the site got fed up with it. This has obviously been a long time in the making and I am only new to PP, but their is still a huge fan base out their that would kill for a serious online golf sim, I think EA have a hider considering, they ignored the PC Market, did the dirty on TW players by releasing TW08 without a course editor, and concentrated on the consols, because they can get double the money for a consol game compared to the PC version, then to rub salt into the wound, fed us up TWO with the promise  of great things to come.

One site I know has 19,000 + members and hundereds of designers, I know Links Corner has many fine members developed over many years, since MS gave 2003 the flick, Frankly I feel having bought Links back in 92 when it was introduced to us on Floppy disk did a far better job, and was sad to see it sold to MS, because I knew it was the beggining of the end, thankfully I was wrong, and when MS did dump it they allowed a very talented group to carry it on.

It would have been nice if EA had been so gracious as MS and allow a group just as talented to allow the patching of the game in numerous formats as has happened with Links.

I still have links on the computer and many wonderful courses, that I either bought or downloaded for free, from many wonderful talented folk.

Bruce,

Don't worry about the 'EA Guest', it was just some dill-weed who kept constantly changing his forum name and endlessly spouting tripe in threads that were started. Your classic forum troll.

I agree with you guys that ideally any mouse control should be included in a BETA and not be something that is hastily added as a 'go live' feature when it has not had the chance for proper community feedback. I feel the mouse will be the poor relation at TGC.

Like Fungolfer, whilst I am happy to see TGC and prepared to try out what they have to offer, Perfect Golf is my #1.

I agree with Daz

I also hope PP will have a mouse swing that is an improvement over the ones in TW08 and TWO.  TW08 was pretty good but in TWO it was way too easy to hit a straight shot and didn't have a horizontal swing option.
