No date yet Dave, but the guys do a great job. I started alpha testing 3 weeks ago and today I got the next release. There are still alot of things to do but I hope you don't have to wait too long :)

The great thing is that it's all coming together quickly now and I'm sure the devs are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The current alpha is miles ahead of the first alpha and a very enjoyable game exists right now. It's just a bit raw and not street ready. I like it playing it far more than TGC, despite TGC being more polished. It feels more serene, less intrusive. You can get lost in it and before you know it, you're on the 18th - like real golf (when you're playing well).

For those questioning whether there is even anything resembling a golf game, here is a quick screen grab of my recent hack-around test at Shadowlands on the Par 3 10th (after dunking tee shot in water), framed nicely with clubhouse in the background across the lake.

Yes, for the observant amongst you, there is no golf er animation, but MoCap was done earlier this year and will be added in due course. Also, running game ALPHA at high graphics settings on my PC, and getting 38 FPS at the time pic was taken.

Well guess that is a testing score. I just finished 2 complete rounds with scores of -1 and -3 after 18 holes. There will be enough options to setup a hard game for sure in the future, but we don't play for scores atm. Well I don't but I guess all others don't do that either. :)

Who cares...

Man, I really wish I got picked for alpha/beta testing.   Kind of bummed I wasn't, but it is still interesting to read about the progress.   Seems like things are coming together.

Man I sure hope this game comes out soon. I've been playing The Golf Club but that game lacks a lot. Multiplayer sucks big time and there are no wind settings and you can only play people that are already your friends and that's if you get lucky and see them playing. Also no game lobby or chat. And you can only play stroke.  If PP has a good multiplayer game with a game lobby and the 3-click meter I'm sure it will take all the golf sim business.

Don't read too much into the score, lol. I was blabbing a few shots off left and right to see how the game physics behave, lol.

But, this doesn't mean the game play is at a level where -20 will be the norm. we just got the latest game play build last week, so this was just me doing some comparison testing to the previous build, as there have been some updates to the physics.

Even without an animation, you can play a full round and feel quite immersed in the environment. Sounds are still fairly basic at this early stage, but progress is definitely being made.

;)

Optimism should be high people. There most certainly is a playable golf game in our future. Are there things to be worked out before it's made available to the public? Most certainly. But, the game in it's current condition is already immersive and enjoyable to play. Once animation is added, more sound effects and a few physics tweaks, it's going to make a giant leap forward.  ;) Stay tuned!

Been playing links since Leader Board.  Never bought or tried any other game.  Play 14 to 20 rounds each week at 4 different sites.  If you are adding testers, please put my name on the short list.

Thanks,

Alan
