Like I said , I have been away for a while, so please bare with me. As for as the layout goes, will there be a choice of clubs ,and balls? Will you have to be a certain tier to be able to get better clubs,if better clubs are an upgrade? Will balls be handled the same way?

Thanks

gary (woodo)

I had to laugh when I read this.... I've seen you around 'that other place' .... I know right? I wondered the same thing, but from what I've read here over the last year or so - It's not going to be anything like it is there.

PP seems to have a little more vested interest and stake in the golf world.. Those other guys? Not so much... ;)

I wonder if PP will setup some kind of PTSD WGT room where players can jump in and roll around on the floor, cry, laugh hysterically and generally just vent?  Maybe group sessions? LOL

I would see PG as being more like Links 2003 than WGT or Shot Online Golf.

Doubt we will see clubs and balls giving added attributes. To refer to PG in racing sim parlance, the clubs and balls will be 'fixed setup', so they are the same for everyone.

Yes, we may see cosmetic differences in how clubs and balls appear in the game (whether we get real life branded clubs and balls may be down to licensing issues) but I don't expect seeing clubs with +5 yds distance, balls with +10% accuracy a la WGT.

;)

None of that but we have set up our whole physics engine so that we can put in things like different shafts which will have different tempo requirements so if you are a fast swinger and want a shaft that will work with the fast swing.... yes we can.... If you want to use cavity back irons we will probably have those but you will trade (large sweet spot) for less ability to do something else.  The idea is that people will be able to set up their equipment to play the game they want to play it, not that that equipment will make you shoot much lower scores.

AJ,

Not sure how different shafts will come in to play for click swingers as we have no tempo to play with, it's a preset meter?

Good point, dont know how to answer your question.  I am sure there will be some things that are click specific.  I think if we try to tie everything together we will sub optimize so maybe there are some items that only work with certain swing types.

I was hoping PG would be released in 2014 but that's ok. I'm positive the end result will be worth the wait .

Best of luck going forward, guys!

AJ mentions different shafts for different tempos.  I played both Links and Tiger Woods and I must say it's nice to keep equipment choices simple, esthetics are all that are necessary for me.  Green, orange, yellow balls. Chrome, black, red shafts.  Big, medium, club heads.

The main thing to me is to keep the equipments' abilities the same for everyone. What mattered with Links and TW was the (stroke timing).

Golfer Models and apparrel, yeah, that's nice too.

Hi everyone, it's only my 2nd post but I have been a member since Aug. 2013. I regularly check the forums and try to stay up to date. I can barley do the basics on a computer and the only games I've ever really been into were golf and poker.I have an idea that may be a starting point for introducing "tempo" into the 3 click swing.

Sorry, wrong button. The idea is to put a series of progressivly smaller dots ( or larger ones lol ) around the swing meter. One set on the inside and one on the outside going in opposite directions. This is the new tempo meter. As clickers we have no control of the swing speed. It is determined by the game and becomes the base line speed. This baseline speed would be the fastest speed availiable. Using the new tempo meter we could slow the speed of the swing down by say 1% to 20%. To compensate for better being able to time the snap there would be a yardage penalty. Say every 1% slower means 1% less distance. So the full 20% slower backswing would cost you 20% distance. If you choose 20% slower on the backswing and the downswing then you loose 40% distance. Now if you only alter the swing by 10% or less you can make back your lost yardage or part of it depending on the shafts you choose. The shafts would be designed to compliment all the various swing tempos. Slow back, quick down, quick, quick etc. Hopefully you would have to experiment to find the best shafts to get all your yardage back. So now by being able to alter the speed of the backswing and downswing you could customize a 3 click swing to have an interpretation of tempo. Foe me, in  order for it to be most effective you need to be able to focus on the player animation. This means using a swing meter wrapped around the ani like the way they show the swing plane in a teaching video. Not a gawdy arcade one but a tailored, sophisticated one using the club head as the meter indicater. Following the club head and the swing in real time would be the best way to feel the tempo. I don't have the vast knowledge about golf games that many of you have. I know most of my ideas are not new but I hope the one about establishing some tempo is and that I didn't subconsciously steal it from somewhere else. Anyway, just some thoughts. Hope everyone had a great Christmas.
