Importing pre created terrain package - Weird Fog

Best Answer Mike Jones , 10 October 2016 - 10:23 PM

Look in Unity under  - window/lighting , should look like this:

If you are using other third party assets for fog or mist make sure they are not active in your course scene.

More one for the future perhaps, but is affecting me currently.

I pre built a unity terrain, planting and 3d models of my local course. I then created a package of that and imported into a course forge enabled project.

All looks good during the build etc but when it loads in game there is a weird fog that appears.

DoGgs encountered the same thing when we tried to import some of the packages created by pgapro for the real courses here: http://onlinegolftou...php?f=87&t=2105

If someone could have a look and see why when these are imported we get the fogging issue thatd be great as some great course terrains there, or at least some very decent starting points.

Mine is a bit more complex as the package was much more populated with various things, but the problem after build is identical

Thanks

Try this:

In Unity, go to Window > Lighting

Expand Fog.

Change Fog Mode to Linear

Start 200

End 3000

Expand Other Settings and uncheck Auto.

See if that helps.  This was a suggestion from Jimbob59

Edit: Ah, Mike beat me to it :)

If you start CF with the base  terrain loaded then import  heightmaps from the OGT list or lidar then all is well as the base terrain automatically starts the Lighing Tab with the  correct settings for Course Forge

If you  start and specify a new Scene  then no terrain is loaded and the settings in the Lighting Tab seem to default to a Unity setting which is what creates the fog in Course Forge.

As long as you make sure the settings MJ posted above ( only takes  a minute or so ) then there are no problems

Had me confused for a while as I used both methods and couldn't understand  why some had the fog and some not

Yep, you will get the funky fog if you start a project from scratch. I learned this the hard way..... a couple of times :)

I have a small notepad I keep handy which has all of these settings written down somewhere, as well as for sound settings and some other tips. I always find myself coming back to the lighting chart a lot.
