I've been lucky to have been beta testing for a couple of months now. I wanted to share a short video of the game playing in a rain storm. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get on video the lighting in the sky. But I got to tell you it looks pretty cool. The swing meter is a place holder at this point so it will be different at the time of release.

Nice lightning effects...

Too bad the trees doesn't move at all though, but I guess (hope) that's coming later.

Short video playing in fog. The video's don't really give the game justice, it looks much better while playing.

Weather settings are currently being tweaked for the latest alpha test and the mist looks like mist now and not just a grey sheet across the screen!

The trees do blow in the wind, just hard to see because of the quality of the video. The game looks good!

That sounds good Mike. I love your vision for this game. I really think this is going to be a huge success. I'm addicted now and to think it's only going to get better. My wife might have to setup an intervention! :o

Have you tried using Twitch to record your gameplay to see of you get a better quality of video?

Not sure here if I'm right but it seems to me that if you hit past 12 o'clock on the meter you get backspin. At least that's the way it seems to me. If someone knows please chime in.

No I haven't. But the problem is that the frame rates drop like 20 or more using Fraps so it makes the game very choppy and impossible to hit your snap. So I had to lower the settings in Fraps and that's why the quality is not that great.

The only issue I have with the lightning storm one is the fact that it seems very bright considering the density of the dark grey clouds, plus the fact you can easily see the shadows of the palm trees which again seems out of place for that much cloud cover. The lightning effect is very cool though.

LOL.... Man, that dust storm is awesome.... Love the audio!  If I might suggest, should he not slide on some sunglasses or goggles? :))

Yeah, that struck me too -  the shadows, including the player shadow, are way too dark and crisp for such conditions.

To save InDaSkies' butt from a court case in today's world, may I state "Disclaimer: Although PG is a golf simulator, InDaSkies and PG in no way recommend playing real golf in lightning storms."

The dust storm video is cool, though the effect is lost in the trace cam and focused around the player in the top cam.

It would be cool if atleast the top cam could have a similiar effect to make aiming a bit harder, just like it would be in real life.

Looking at the top cam it looks like the effect is a particle generator attached to the golf ball, which explains why the effect is "lost" in chase cam as it doesn't have time to generate enough particles while moving.

Not sure here if I'm right but it seems to me that if you hit past 12 o'clock on the meter you get backspin. At least that's the way it seems to me. If someone knows please chime in.

Affirmative. about 95% or more power on swings with a short iron or club generates backspin (That and landing your ball on an upslope, or hitting it from an uphill lie, or using a splash shot in a bunker, which also creates backspin). There is currently no way that, as a player, you can choose to add backspin to your shots, it only manifests itself when the physical conditions are right: High lofted clubs at high clubhead speed generating the necessary spin rate. In other words, you absolutely can not quickly add a bit backspin for target golf on evey one of your shots, like in other games.

When playing, you need to be aware of these mechanics and factor them in, and then on top of that also hit a clean shot to get the ball to behave as expected. I'm sure that this topic will engender some more discussions in EA, but the makers are quite stubborn whenever "realistic ball physics" - the declared ideal and purpose of this venture - are being debated.

What's about the Physics of the Ball in difficult Weather Situations? Did that effect also the Flights of the Ball? Or is that only a simple Viedoeffect without any Change the Gamephysics?
