PG have made a good start by adding this desirable functionality.  What it needs IMO is the ability to do 2 extra things (both things that Links 2003 did brilliantly) to really take it up a level.

1) The ability to play with another players tournament REC round.  By all means disable the behind the view camera and just have the sideways camera.  Disable information re what club friend has used (even distance, elevation etc) i.e you would just see the screen with no additional info.  Would really add extra immersion.

2) The ability to sit back and watch 2 (or more REC rounds) as a spectator.  Yes I can select a round but I have to play along with it.  Would be nice to have this option when you just want to sit back and relax.

On another note , can 2 or more people play online tourney rounds?  Not sure if I have seen a route to this in the options.  Or is this something we cannot do at present?

A,

All good points bud. I think Links 2003 is a good benchmark for how REC rounds should be playable in JNPG. I think what we have now is just the early phases of playing REC rounds. Hopefully we see some more development in this area.

As for online tourney rounds, i'm sure it is possible as OGT are now making the round skill level as ANY to allow folks of differing skill levels to play tourney rounds together. Just not sure how it is done, as I play mine on my own so it isn't something I have looked in to.

Yes. This feature has been available for a very long time. Once in the game setup screen, just invite another player. For OGT, their scores will be accepted if they had registered for that tournament. And as Daz said, people can now play tournament rounds with people on different levels.

Daz, I do hope so - surely this cannot be too hard to amend the coding especially for both (1) and (2)  - as the game has all the data sitting there now (so long as both players have played the same setup).  Just requires a decision by PG to put this on the front burner.

Thanks for that confirmation re Online playing.  TBH I had not really considered this until the end of my post.  May try it out very soon.  Presumably you have no overwhelming objection re playing with another completed REC round during a tourney should PG make this possible.

Could you expand on that please Z. I'm not quite sure how this would be in practice.

Frank has suggested I play in the RTS-M tourneys at OGT. Recording for others or playing against recordings would certainly increase my interest.

Not sure if this has been asked (and/or answered) but can you play with someone else's REC round in a tournament?  Looking through various posts and cannot see the answer.  That is play with someone (or rather their completed REC round) who is OFFLINE ? (point #1 in the start of this thread)

This question has blown the circuits on the OGT computer Mailman. I wasn't surprised that I didn't get an answer. I don't think they can comprehend a world that steps outside of conservative thinking.

Very interesting, if one of your friends plays a OGT tournament round and records it then sends it to you, or uploads it to the cloud etc you could then add that recorded round into your OGT game then play against it,
Would the result of your own round still be uploaded thru the API to OGT?
this would be great if that was the case...

I wait with baited breath from devs/OGT.  I assume (from your reply) that this question has been asked on OGT forums as well.

I spent years battling both Mailmans and Parkles rec rounds in tourneys at APCD courses. Waiting for their R4 rec round and going up against them in my R4 were some of my greatest memories in tourneys.

It's like they are there, and just adds so much to competition.

From a practical perspective, given the time zone differences we all have allowing rec rounds in tourneys would really help.

Last time I looked at this thread was on Dec 17th.  So, I didnt see these questions.

This can't be done at the moment.  While you can record and upload your tournament rounds to PG cloud, you or your friends can only play against recorded rounds from the Solo Play option of the game.  When in the API Tournaments mode, there is not yet an option to play against a recorded round.

Anything is possible but I doubt there's enough demand for the Devs to implement this feature.  Due to how API tournaments work, this will not be an easy thing to add.  Besides that, tour players would have to be in agreement to allow this on tour.

You can just watch a recorded round.  Simply load one up then kick yourself from the player one spot, click ready and start the round.  You can now sit back, relax and enjoy just watching.  :)  I have done this a few times.

Just a real pity that this cannot be done ATM.  Re the demand issue, possibly many more people would probably use this feature if it were to become available.  And not only to play with a friend but also somebody else.  I know I would but what do I know? Perhaps I am in a very small minority.

Playing online or offline with a REC round gives me no added information about the club or indeed how the club is swung.  At least it doesn't in RTS-M especially as the view is off to one side much like real life.  Possibly on the greens it may give me some added information but lets face it pro golfers gain some insight into the green if putting on a similar line to a playing companion.  No it is all about adding immersion and this is something PG needs more of.
