I needed to take a break from Cherry Hills and have been sorting through some clutter on my hard drive when I realized I had this desert course that was pretty far along. I've had this one sitting on my hard drive for nearly a year and a half. I kind of abandoned it because I didn't have an abundance of appropriate vegetation to work with, with the idea that I would come back to it when I felt like that problem was solved. I've managed to build up a nice collection of useful objects in recent weeks and have arrived at a point where I'm ready to revisit this one.

Are they sharable objects or do they come with licensing?

Just trying to fix a bad water hazard drop problem that has come up. Otherwise it will be ready for beta testing just as soon as I figure that out.

It's a different course but I've used a similar routing with some of the hole concepts borrowed.

Used to like playing the Troon North desert course in Links. If it's owt like that, that will be great.

The Troon North Monument was included in quite a few golf games years ago. There’s 36 holes there and they have reconfigured the two courses in recent years. The Pinnacle course front 9 is spectacular in real life and would look great in this game. It’s combined with the old Monument back nine. The Boulders South is another scenic desert course. I’m hoping a talented designer gets the itch to do one of these.
I played Scottsdale TPC the other day and the designer has done a superb job. The desert courses look brilliant in game play. It was great watching it on TV and then playing it.

Sorry. I’ve only just joined and was looking for any desert courses. Only just noticed the thread was from ages ago.

Yeah, looks like my old Mesquite thread.

I actually do have another desert course I started - I converted an old desert course I did for Links and brought it into Unity. It's not going to be exactly the same though; I've re-routed parts of the front nine and reworked some existing holes.

They're fun to do and a bit different from the usual, and I guess not a lot of other designers do them. It was that way with Links and even going back to JN5-JN6. Of course PG is harder because there aren't a lot of great plants available, but that's slowly being rectified.

I guess I should probably pick a real one to do at some point. I woulda done Scottsdale (as I actually have played it) but that's already out there. I also played Grayhawk which was fun. Should look into it. I guess they kinda get overlooked because they don't seem to turn up on any "best of" lists.

Might as well throw up a couple of early screenies. These are two holes I've kept the same from the Links course.

Looks great.
You’ve got my juices flowing with talk of Grayhawk.
Both courses are brilliant IRL.
