You can see from here: http://www.perfectpa...age-2#entry8707

It's an ongoing thing - it's a passion - why would they wish to finish it.
They would have had aspirations to be further along on the game side, but commercial realities hit. You employ more staff and productivity stops while the others train them up. Then they leave. Unity updates and everything breaks. Money runs out or production has to be diverted to attract interest for more funds. There's also a lot of trial and error in this stuff, a lot of features that really have to be tried and then evalulated, a lot of promising leads that just fade away.

Well, to be honest I think we might be using too strict a definition of "finished" here.
As you hinted at, no software is ever 100% finished in the traditional sense, I fully agree there.

PG is "very good" I would say, but there still are plenty of bugs and many things missing that really should be there for a released, indie retail priced, game.
Obviously us early access types got a screaming deal @ $20, no question.

It's just tough as we all loved the base of the game, especially the early momentum, and really hoped it would get more fleshed out over the years.
Most have done all they could as simple customers...We bought the game, all the DLC, we are engaged, etc.

Many of us have literally begged them to implement a business model that would allow more development resources.
I absolutely admit to being wrong about being against the Season Pass model initially. Big mistake on my part - have always admitted that.

Anyhow - That's all the past...
Hopefully, moving forward, being acquired by Trackman will be able to provide the future game we all had hoped for w/ PG1.

O my, a response with a realistic business perspective. Glad to see it. I appreciate your insight. Quite refreshing.

@ted, PP never wanted to finish PG from the start, so of course it's unfinished.

...you say you played a lot before the price at OGT went up. Given it's only $20/6 months now, how little do you value your entertainment?

Yep, I agree with your first statement - and it also has never been fully formed. But to infer that TGC2 is broken while PG is not draws a long bow. Especially when participation numbers seem to contradict that inference.

I stopped playing at OGT well before they started charging for membership for a number of reasons. The fact that I haven't played there after the fee was introduced must surely suggest there is no entertainment value at OGT for me at all (and quite a few others apparently).

Ted, when i say broken i am talking only about the core components of the swing mechanic, nothing else.  If you want to talk about outdated graphics that BTW still manage to look more realistic than TGC's supposed superior look, these things i care not for..  I'm talking about the fact you have to de loft every chip shot in TGC just to get it to behave like a chip shot or how a fluctuating frame rate can turn the tempo element into a lottery, not to mention grid lines not breaking the way they should from time to time, or why it's easier to hit a 40yd flop out of a bunker than it is to pick one off the top of the sand with a full shot.  When you play TGC it feels like the game was made by people who have very little knowledge of golf, there are just too many head scratching moments, and while PG is far from perfect i just don't get those moments playing it.

Yeah, fair enough DoGgs. I see what you mean.

I haven't been tempted by TGC1 or TGC2 until recent discussion. I should get it and make an informed comparative opinion.

TGC2 wasn't mentioned in your post or mine, didn't even think about it so definitely didn't intend to infer that if I did. I do have TGC2, but really out of supporting producers of golf games who have good intentions, as it didn't capture me. I've only played it for maybe an hour or two in total so couldn't comment. I would guess that being released on consoles which have approval processes, and a company with far more developers than PP, it would be more polished though.

Fair enough that there was no entertainment value there at OGT for you - just surprised that $20 per 6 months meant the difference between playing there regularly and no entertainment value.

Fully formed is again subjective. We play 5 or 6 events per week on the sim tour - everyone's over the moon and we fully complete  tournaments - worse thing that happens is an occasional collider out of place (course issue), launch monitor misread, or the water hazard bug (which has yet to happen to me). Maybe because OGT corrects for things like scorecard or scoring glitches and lefties don't see a righty avatar, but we're not praying for updates.

That quote of MJ's mention's still hoping to be working on PG in 20 years time. Might need to be slightly tweaked now and replace PG with PG2, lol (although in all fairness I think the quote was made long before PG2 even became a 'thing').

LOL! Super Sale! TGC2.  Gobble it up now.  TGC2 is excellent for the controller player and not so much for a mouse player.  To each his/her own.

I like my mouse and 3Click.  So JNPG made by PP is my cup of tea.  I have and will support JNPG by PP for as long as it is available to the mouse player.

As far as OGT goes, I will support it always.  I remember when OGT was the only site in town to download user created courses.  I played OGT Tournaments before JNPG even had official tournaments.  The folks who run OGT at that time spent their personal money to run it.  The $20.00 for 6 months helps them recoup some, and I mean some of the money they spend for the OGT site.  Seems more than fair to this player.  But again to each his or her own.

Let us not forget the open beta days and what sites supported us first.  I am also grateful for the other 3rd party sites that support JNPG now.   Bravo to you all.

I have a friend and we play daily and have for years.  I don't play lobby games because most are any level and that usually means less than Pro and since I only play Tour Pro that is boring for me.  Most lobby games that are Pro and above are usually locked.  Best golf around and don't ever plan on stopping.

Simply play your level and let your opponents play their level.  Who gives a damn who uses what?

There are more players in the lobby now than ever, its just that tour rounds are the focus for most.

I agree 100%.  Once a person learns this game's nuances & idiosyncrasies - and has a machine that can handle the game's demands, competing against scores on leaderboards is much more fun that sitting around in a lobby waiting for a game with total strangers.  That's my experience with PC Golf since 1997.

Multiplayer or bust for me.  I cannot see the purpose of tournaments other than a pat on the back from a virtual standings board.

So you cannot see that they allow folks to play offline (or online if they wish) and compete against other human players scores over a 4 round tournament format effectively creating an ongoing career mode of sorts by playing tournaments week on week?

You say multiplayer or bust. Then play your tournament rounds online with another playing partner.

Thank you for your reply but I have zero interest in tournaments.

Event leaderboards are fun, but IMO still nothing beats a 2v2 scramble with voice that goes down to the wire.

Never done the 'waiting in the lobby' thing but could imagine it's not ideal with so many annoying types in golf - snails, whingers, excusers, quitters, preachers, teachers, distracters, cheats, hustlers,...Too risky unless you have ample time and will take anything. Definitely a nice thing about a club like OGT, I learn who to avoid and still have access to the other 90% of fun people, and they can avoid my type.

Are you not the same crusher that waited for  a game on tw08 on gameranger?

When playing the tournaments we try harder for a good score, but casual rounds are what makes this game fun for me. We are all different in opinions yes well whats new there. The thing i love about this game is the casual rounds meeting new players that just want to have fun and friendly banter. I say if they want to promote this game friendly chat and OPEN games in the lobby are a must. To all the forum regulars that dont even play the game and are going to read this well i wont mention names , hey when was the last time you played a game?
