Hello all. Trying my first attempt at using Course Forge/Unity and lidar from my home town course. I have a question. There is a large lake that the course crosses at two points. Do I simply draw a regular spline around the lake and then drag one of the water options into the spline perimeter and press 'build' as though I were creating a fairway?

Thank you.

No need to draw a spline, just excavate to your liking then drag the Water Plane into the hole, reshape as needed.

Hello axe360. I want to clarify something. This is lidar data sent to me from Larry. Can you excavate lidar data before drawing some sort of overlay? Thanks.

Yes sir, just dig below the shoreline then drag and drop you water in, then raise up any areas around the shoreline that look like they are below the shoreline, if need be. Smooth the shoreline as needed.

Remember up on the very top left Edit, you have an UNDO TOOL that will undo your last move.

If you have any other questions by all means post them up here. You will get answers or pm me if you need more assistance and if I don't know the answer I can direct you to it, most likely, I think. lol

As axe mentioned, you can.   I usually just survey the surrounding areas for a low point that I know I want to be dry land and then subtract about 2ft from it and set it to that with the height brush.  Then you just paint away within the edges of the lake that you can see on the lidar.  Smooth the sloped edge just a tad and than drag the water plane into it and move the water up or down until you get it to a height that you like.  I usually do this before I draw any splines.

I am very careful making height adjustments everywhere else, but with water the adjusted terrain is actually under water.  That said its really flat under that water :)

I am just a newb though, so there is probably a better way :)
