A.W. Tillinghast design in Paramus NJ.

This is the composite layout which has hosted several PGA tournaments in the past.

Going for a lush look on this one.  Still adjusting colors and textures.

I always liked playing this course in Links2003.  I thought Peter Beckwith did a great job with it.  Hopefully I will do it some justice.

Getting close to beta...

Looks like a real beauty.  I also very much enjoyed playing Colonial and am wondering what the status of the final version is.  Thanks.

This looks fantastic (including color)!

Its very impressive to see all the accoutrements and I feel like they really add to the immersion.  Sometimes I wish they weren't so damn time consuming to make and other times I like how it makes the creative juices flow.  Most the times they are just time consuming

Question... how did you make the clubhouse?  It looks like it was made outside of unity and imported?

I want to release the Ridgewood beta first to get people playing it, then I will go back and finish Colonial.

I started working on them around the same time and had already made quite a bit of progress on both courses.

Yes I have come to realize how important all of those accessories are to a course.  Especially on some fancy parkland courses which don't provide a lot of creative terrain texturing opportunities to hold the players' visual interest.

I agree it can be time consuming but this kind of course would feel empty without them I think.

I haven't learned to do any building outside of Unity.

The clubhouse and surrounds were built with DPR's House Builder and the Unity Mesh Maker asset (providing a variety of primitive mesh shapes)

Something I'm still learning is how much texturing matters to how we perceive a building or other object.  Makes a HUGE difference.  All of the good 3-D artists already know this and do it really well.

Other 3-D objects are used as is or built piecemeal using a combination of the House Builder and assets from Justin9926, LarryKuh, K11, and NoPutt.

I just looked at the Mesh Maker asset, it shows Unity 5.5 or higher.  Did you have to start a 5.5 project and export it?  It looks like a worthy investment, but I am always weary of the process of getting the later than 5.2 stuff working.

I felt competent with DPR's House Builder until I saw your clubhouse

I bought it back when it was compatible with the version of Unity we use.  I avoid updating it for that reason!  It's a great program.

I'm curious if your workaround will work in terms of the scripts?  The meshes should be fine to copy over, but I'm not sure if the updated programs in the suite will work on an old version of Unity.

Reason enough not to try.  Anyway, I didn't mean to de-rail your thread...

Bortimus, I also like French Lick as it is a unusual course with panoramic views given how open it is.  It has been in beta for quite some time.  Is your plan to finish it after you release your Ridgewood CC as well?  Thanks.

When completed, this course is going to be a real beauty. It is a lot of work to detail houses and other course objects but very rewarding. Schmidt accomplished it with his Harbor Town renditions resulting in two  classic designs. Peter's Ridgewood render was also very well done but for some reason is only listed as a Beta 2 Final. Maybe he meant this to be the final release. What annoys me, is that there are numerous courses in Links, TW as well as in PG that remain in Beta and are never released as Final. If you are going to spend numerous hours in laying out a course, getting the textures and planting to look realistic, why would you not spend the time that is needed to get the window dressing looking as good as the rest of the render. Mediocre buildings and other course objects diminish the playing value of the entire course design. You know it is like a woman without makeup or a classic car without plenty of chrome. LOL

Played this course and Colonial yesterday. I really enjoyed the courses and the greens look fantastic. Close up you even see the verticut fine lines. Amazing job.

Played 18 here last night..fantastic stuff bortimus.  These textures..wow. You guys are always moving the bar.  Great, old school course as well.  Thanks for the time & effort.  Haven't been able to play Colonial yet but hope to remedy that next week.
