Relatively new to PP on Steam,  and so far no major issues with game play.  But I cannot find and instructions or help file.  It really would make my game experience enjoyable if I knew basic game instructions such as how to change the one avatar I see or how to delete saved shots?  Is there a help file in the game that I'm simply missing?

Welcome...  hope you enjoy the game.   First to address your questions...  there is no help file, however, the best thing to do is just ask here to whatever questions you may have.   Everyone is good about answering, so stick around in these forums.   There is only one avatar, Hacker Harry.. that's it.   In game, you can change the way you would like to set your "swing"..  Controller, mouse movement or 3 Click.. go to the practice range and see what best suits you and swing away to get the hang of it.    Deleting "stuff" means going into wherever you installed the game.. whether its saved shots or courses, you can do that directly in the game directory.

Last.. be sure to check out all of the user made courses here, there are a ton:

https://pgls.golflad...rsonal_page.php

Click on the Courses tab and download away.. these also get manually dropped in your game directory... here is an example.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Perfect Golf\Courses

I hope this helps and gets you started..

Saved shots == open steam go to Library right click on JNPG / go to bottom left click on Properties / click on Open files / then click on on browse open files  / go to recorded rounds double left click /  then delete the ones you don't want to keep.

Be advised that when deleting saved shots ( .SHT files in the folder ), you will have to restart the game in order for the deletion to take effect. Also, Steam's library page has changed a little bit since the quoted post. The exact path is as follows -

At library page, right click Perfect Golf > left click Properties in drop down > left click Local Files tab in Properties window > left click Browse Local Files button. This will bring up a new window. Double-click RecordedRounds folder. SHT files are saved shots. Delete what you don't want.

Notorious - Your post is hilarious it reminds me of the good ole days ever since PG came into being many in here were there at Early Access as it got developed most everyone thought there needs to be a help file or instructions or something - but there was not for eons. If you go to your steam library and click on Perfect Golf and then click on GUIDES there is a lot of help there some of it was done or most or all of it was done eons ago after much begging. Many people posted the same question over and over in the forums here about how to hit the ball and finally a guide was made - parts of the guide are probably out of date so have fun with that. Over time they added a lot more options my favorite one is the ability to turn off Background Sounds. When the game starts up across the top in bold letters you should see HOME  \ PLAYERS \ SETTINGS \ PRO SHOP  so to turn off Background Sounds Click on Settings then > AUDIO then adjust Background sounds to zero !!! Anyway this is just a pet peeve of mine probably not an issue for you. In the early days it was either Sounds of your golfer AND all background sounds or NO SOUND those where the choices. Point is IMO some courses have aggravating background sounds such that it simulates you being inside a pig pen wherein the pigs are being attacked by feral cats. Main thing check out those guides But the following may be helpful.

- When you click on Players realize you can also make an AI golfer to play against also when you click on players you can of course name your player and then tweak some stuff this is under Players > general   - then don't forget Players > difficulty - Under Players difficulty you can choose a difficulty setting which provides defaults but then ALSO you can tweak things too. Ok I am a horrible golfer most on here play on Pro or higher I play on Amateur in addition I tweak it - though by taking simplified putting off. Point is you will to get the most enjoyment is to pick a level and see how aggravating it is for you. If it is to aggravating then make it a tad easier if to easy then up the aggravation make it harder. Pro level is a nightmare for me but others deal with it just fine. What happened was we whined how hard it was to that a Parent could not play with their say 10 year old child so they finally made it to where even if your drunk and in a stupor you can make par.

--

-- Fiddle with Real time weather if its on courses will get dark as the sun goes down where you are at.

--

-- oh this is important the BLI is key that means the Break Line Indicator to enjoy putting instead of just looking at the slopes if the GREEN GRID is on you can ALSO use the BLI click and drag this when on the green from the hole to the player and see more so the exact deviations and adjust your putt accordingly (I think on some levels you are not given the BLI ) wheeee

--

--- Oh this is important when putting and its hard to see the break because your avatar is in the way put the club on DRIVER when on the green  its on putter - putting it on driver enables you to see more. MAKE SURE though that you put it back at putting before you putt or the ball may not go in if you wack it with the driver ...

--

-- Point is there is a lot to ask so ask away.

--

-- Here is something else what I did maybe other do too who knows. I took a screenshot of the shot meter then went to the practice area the Wood's which is a course and the Practice area which is .. the practice area then AFTER I choose what clubs I like and AFTER I figured out the Difficulty settings I extensively hit each club to see how I hit it  at various distances and strengths meaning for example the 64 wedge at full swing for me when I use that club the first dot it goes 13 feet and goes in the air 7 feet. I did this for each dot AND for each 1/2 way area  between each dot for example that club at mid swing (dot 3) for me goes 35 yards total and goes 65 feet in the air. So then I wrote down next to each dot how each dot played AND how it plays halfway between each dot. This way if you are near the green but need it to go over a bunker you can figure out how far to pull the club back without simply seeing oh this club goes 77 yards and the hole is 35 yards otay let me do this then why did it do that .. But practice and know your clubs and write it down. Below are .pdf file with the screen shots so you can do this for any clubs you like. I did it for my wedges, putter, chip shots and swing shots. It really helps out A pitch shot with the 64 Wedge goes 51 yards full strength but it the hole is 38 yards I know exactly where to hit it according to my swing meter schematic. It is still enjoyable cause the meter is best made on a flat surface to get the distances so then you factor this in and your particular shot which may include an uphill down hill or slopey green etc.

The best thing about PG is that - well, I think what I do is motion swing I see the swing meter I swing and then it shows the golfer swing it is not click click click or whatever and its not real time swing which I think has NO meter. Anyway unlike most golf games the swing is such that you play by feel according to what type of shot you have. So putting for example is not oh its 14 feet ok if I stop right here it goes 14 feet - NO you have to first figure out how your putter works on the practice green like a real golfer THEN you have to know the Stimp etc. Then like any other golfer you hit it and hope Wheeeee

Little known fact when King Arthur was trying to make a golf course and he ran into some conflict. King Arthur: There's a peace only to be found on the other side of war. If that war should come I will fight it!    Other important fact. Read the Book of John in the Holy Bible.
