I didn't know it was possible to get the yips in a video game, but I officially have them.  Most of the time, I'm a pretty good putter but on a couple of holes per round, on 4 footers, I get jittery!

I'm about turn 50..that's about the time (probably mid 40's) the it starts happening in real golf.......Just wanted to know if anyone else has em?

Yep.

A good beverage helps to calm the nerves, though.

Joe - yes!

There is a window of opportunity for optimum putting when drinking a strong spirit.  For me, it peaks after 3 consecutive rounds, then falls off the cliff in round 4.

Misery loves company! It's funny, the yips in video game golf start at about the same time as real Pro golfers get them, mid 40's....I do put better after a few drinks....now I see why John Daly played better when drinking....And it gets harder to compete on these tours (PGLS and TGC)....

I wonder how much of the "yips"  can be attributed to our age and when we started to play wrt virtual golf, as opposed to real golf.

A lot of us are in the 50 to 70 year old range and started virtual golf in the pre-LINKS era.  When LINKS hit the scene, CPU's and graphics cards were pushed to their limits to keep up with the software.  Trying to hit the snap meant anticipating.  With PG the same (for me in the beginning) was true - click early to offset the stutter.

Now that I have a higher end graphics card and high refresh rate monitor, I'm constantly snapping early (yips on putts).

If Pavlov was a golfer and took his dog with him, I'd be Pavlov's  dog (40 years of engrained 3C muscle memory).

Not to mention the occasional stutter with us 3 clickers that seem to beyond our control even with high end systems.

JMK, I did see your post but I have stutter even with my higher end system.

It's def a thing and nothing to do with nerves, playing controller you need to get a consistent method to stay good, part of my method included a slow stick take back and a faster follow thru, i went thru a period where i just could not make the slow take back, it was really weird, i just could not bring myself to initiate it.  Went away after a few days but it was def a strange feeling.
