I'ts time for a discussion about PG/PGLS. It's a great game but it has no sense of community. I still wear my Rough Riders T shirt from Links.Yep we had caps as well. We were a community, when people fell on bad times we all put in and paid their bills. We were family, I knew the wives and kids of all the players I played with. Still do. We talked to each other, still do to those that are still alive,god I miss people just having a chat and playing golf. I learnt so much about America and they learnt about Australia. Fuck, we laughed so much for hours every day. I miss it. I would like to start a discussion on how we can get this back. I would hope that that the Jone's boy's would be part of this. They started it.

I agree with you Eddie.  I don't really know how its come to pass so quickly, but I feel like times have changed a whole bunch since Links.   Here in the US we are more polarized than ever before in my life.  Fear and anger rule so many peoples lives and it seems like we have forgotten how to just be friends and play a video game.  Truth be told, I wonder if PG might be one of the better communities out there?   Even if it is small and at times seems to be shrinking...

How can you discuss when the other side doesn't answer? There is no way to do anything in this game without Andrew or Mike. Every 2 Months someone opens up a discussion about the same thing. And never gets an answer by Andrew or Mike. All I heard is that the contract with TM ends on July 31st. So at August 1 PP has their game back and this is the earliest date you will get a helpful answer. And I don't even know if this also is a rumor or if it's true.

 

Good to hear that RR is still alive, loved all the matches with you guys, always a blast

Where did you hear the contract with TM expires? The last of the Sim passes for this game do expire then.

sold the game to TM flat out.

All we can do is hurry up and wait for August 1.  We will know something by August then again maybe not.    I'll be here no matter what.

I think to gain a sense of community in PG/PGLS, players need to use the community platforms that are available, which hardly anyone does. PGLS has a Discord channel with several rooms. I play almost all of my PGLS rounds with a couple of friends from Liverpool, UK ( I live in Birmingham, AL, USA ). We have a great time. But on any given day, we are the only players using that platform. We would certainly welcome other players to join us. Then there is the PGLS M&G chat room. It is almost always populated by just one player, TexasACES, at any given time, unless there is a tourney event in progress. Myself, I prefer the voice chat over typing because it is less distracting to me. Someone talking on my backswing doesn't affect my game at all, and I hate typing...LOL.

I know voice chat isn't for everyone...personalities clash...some of us drink while we play and others don't care for that atmosphere. But there are many rooms in the Discord channel...one can play with the folks he likes to play with while not playing with others. For example, a room could be designated alcohol-free...or politics free...or whatever. And there is always the mute button for those who don't want to hear chat on their backswing. The point is, if these platforms aren't used, then the feeling of community is lost, and therefore the community itself withers on the vine.

Some of us are just introverted and don't feel comfortable interacting at all with the community. Over at PGLS we can play tournaments without having to chat with someone. That's about as close to community as we like. Occasionally, I might venture out of my comfort zone, but rarely. I would love to see this game saved or progress. It seems those designers that are still around are pushing the envelope all the time but I gave up hope that this game would morph into something special a long time ago.

Well I do both (online and offline).  I am playing tourneys at PGLS and throw off a round usually once a day and do actually enjoy the peace and quiet - if things are going well.  Then I find myself getting 'in the zone'.  But equally I also enjoy the different experience generated by a bi-weekly online game with Skype as our means of communication.  Lots of joshing about and mild name-calling.  As good as Links 2K3 in that respect for sure.

Hey Folks what is TM - what does TM stand for what is RR what do you mean by PP Perfect Parallel gets its game back also ... what does this mean sim users lose access to PG ?? 

Also - Will PG still be available on Steam to play ?? 

Are you all talking about multiplay only and the PG servers will no longer be available ??

Nothing's gonna change with the PC version of PG. With TrackMan's purchase of PP's golf titles, Simulator user's will need to switch to TM's Virtual Golf developed by PP.
