Ok it seems fixed now but the previous problem is mentioned below: The "fix" I did is in the next post below this one.

So I'm working on a golf course and putting the final touches on it and I am adding some trees here and there. Then it seems they are not showing up but since its just one tree here or one there I am wondering if I am on the wrong hole or what so anyway I finally put a tree in the middle of the front T so it will have to show up then I save the terrain to a new file name and save the scene to a new file name then I click on the thing so the course is processed to be played like I have done 100 times then I copy this folder to the courses folder like I have done 100 times but the tree does not show up in the middle of the Tee. So unity or something course forge is no longer able to do anything ???

It was working fine yesterday and this morning all the tweaks I was doing to the course. So I loaded up a saved terrain from yesterday and a saved scene from yesterday per the tutorial video I save a terrain and scene together when doing one or the other; however, I do not overwrite saves I save the terrain as for example h1b and scene as h1b this is how I know they go together. Ok so I loaded up the last scene I saved yesterday and the last terrain I did yesterday then I resaved those saves under 6 12 save 1 (terrainsave)  and 6 12 save 1 (scenesave) so then I added a tree in the middle of the Tee on hole 9 then I did another save calling it 6 12 save 2 for each then I clicked on the thing to compile it to be played to see if the stupid tree shows up so Thank the Lord the Tree is there in the middle of the Tee.

So now I will start from this point and continue to tweak and save the course like I have been doing for weeks now. and then I will delete all saves pertaining to today that I did earlier and once it seems to be working flawlessly I will do a folder save.

First of all I have no idea who told you to save so much but they need to relax. Maybe I am in the minority here but I don't save terrains because it doesn't need to be done hardly at all if you know what your doing. I save the scene file here and there but I don't load it because it should already be loaded with the terrain file.

I have never seen a tree I planted not show up, I am just thinking you are saving so god awful much and you have so many terrain and scene files you could be mixing them up. I don't care what Mike Jones said in that tutorial, he obviously doesn't trust his own design software if he thinks he must have to keep loading and saving so much. I've never had Unity or Course Forge crash once that I should have to worry about anything. Your just making a mess by saving so much and making it tons more confusing for your ownself!!

I don't mean to be blunt but I am just trying to help because I hate to see others make it harder on themselves than it needs to be. That's where problems show up....

Thanks this is what I need input from someone who has used it extensively and can speak from experience.   I am almost certain as to what happened was that when I compile a course I copy the compiled course that is compiled into a folder I copy this to the courses folder then when I compile the course later on after working on another hole to check things out etc. it was getting compiled to a folder with a different filename because I was saving the terrain and scenes constantly to different file names in regards to the previous saves. So what happened was I had two or more folders in the courses folder of my course because as I was doing all of this life happened, I had to eat, phone rings, some moron knocks on my door blah blah blah so then what was happening was since each course folder I copied over to the courses folder each course had the exact same COURSE NAME which currently I call it A A A this way it shows up first in the carousel I will change the name to something spiffy later on. So what happens was even though there were say three more courses in the course folder in addition to all the other courses there they each had the same course name so only saw one of them in the carousel or if there were more I only saw the first one even though each one has the same course splash screen so this is why the tree was not showing I think because the I was not even playing the course with the tree I had placed in it. This kerfuffle did not full manifest itself until it took me 45 min to finally get a different splash screen to work I finally figured out I had multiple other courses in the course folder besides the ones I had found which had fixed the tree issue.

Point is if you have two or more course folders of a particular course in the course folder AND each course folder you put in there has the same course name where you name the course and can specify the splash screen and the flags etc. these same course names obviously will much everything up. So far 81 views big waste of time for everyone I shot myself in the foot and was not even a participant in the riot.

Yes, please just only save once and compile what you are working on now. I am working on a redo of Hazeltine but going slowly. My course file differs in the folder that my original version and that is the one that keeps getting loaded which is Hazeltine_3dg_v1.unity - I don't change the name at all and I don't backup my terrain file because I am not doing any work to it yet but yes if I start doing work on it again I might back it up once but maybe not because I just don't crash it so I never have to worry about the terrain being bad. I just save the scene file but NEVER call it anything else because as you know now this is where you can have problems. When compiling it always overwrites the file in the courses folder in perfect parallel and I just drag that one to the other courses directory where the game courses are and overwrite that one. Sorry many times I have seen your posts and sometimes I don't know what your trying to say or I have not come across it yet or I would have thought someone else would have answered you by the time I got home after work. I didn't mean to be rude by not helping you out.

I'll try to help out more if I see more of your posts. It sounds as if your doing well though it was just all the problems with saving and renaming that you were really having the troubles with so I hope you got that all straightened out.

This is just how I do it though so I don't want to tell you it should be done this way but yes maybe backing up your terrain once a week or every other week might be good and backing up your project that same time scale might be good but I just don't bother..lol
