That is extremely impressive work Matt. I've been following the videos you have been posting on your Youtube page regarding the OPCD. What is your end goal for it? Is it a new way of creating golf courses for games like Perfect Golf? Or is it meant more for simulators such as GS Pro?
It is meant for anyone interested in building a golf course - for 3D engine, for 3D print, for 3D design class, whatever. I just don’t know where things will go in future and it was a tool that could let us go to Unreal if that’s where a game one day showed up.
The only hang up to using for PP is getting the green to align - but it could be done. The green in PP is special in that you can’t replace it with your own. GSP allows a hole to be “dug” out on any mesh you plant a pin. But, I think you could use CF just to make green complexes and we could perfectly cut them out of the OPCD mesh.
I could even make a button for that. So you would draw the Course in Inkscape but not put in the greens for CF. Now, would that be preferred over just using CF for JNPG? I don’t know.
I do know you should at least be able to use this to create Bulkheads, paths or water planes if desired. Because I actually have some Python/Blender skills after this journey - something Custom for your needs would probably not take me much time.
As far as costs - free as long as you aren’t monetizing. It’s a pay it forward idea. I provide for you - you provide for community. If you want to be paid for your ventures, you would need to talk to me about licensing. Can I truly police that - no, probably not?
Some super fun things tho - for GSP can even build a mini golf with this in a few hours and have it look pretty polished
