Sorry for original deletion of post - I wanted to make sure to add in appropriate reference for CF meshes. If you are still building courses for JNPG, you should be able to use my OPCD conversion tools to create cart path curbs, waterplanes and bulkheads. You would need to export your mesh using OBJExporter that is free from the Unity Asset store.

The rapid bulkheads shown in this video is an idea about 4 years too late for me as it would've been nice when I was building Kiawah. Regardless, I have been in hiding for about the last 4 months building this SVG to Mesh conversion tool. Basically, a course designer that goes from a 2D Inkscape drawing to 3D meshes projected on to the Terrain. All meshes are one click creation and one click export and can be used in Unity, Unreal or any 3D gaming engine.

Buck, you are the last person standing here and all courses still in the works on this platform get finished exclusively and only for you so nobody would agree! :D

The OPCD is very user friendly and takes away many pains of the old JNPG designer.

DP has spent hundreds of cross-eyed hours fine tuning the OPCD and look forward to

what he has for the future.

That is extremely impressive work Matt. I've been following the videos you have been posting on your Youtube page regarding the OPCD. What is your end goal for it? Is it a new way of creating golf courses for games like Perfect Golf? Or is it meant more for simulators such as GS Pro?

Well, I still drop in hoping to hear of some exciting news about a new golf game (Links 2021 or 2022?). Still playing PG all maxed out on my new system, though I have dabbled some with 2K21.

While PG isn't perfect, despite its name, it is still a very good representation of golf. The biggest disappointment about it to date though is that it hasn't been modded in any way that I am aware of. Had new player animations, clubs, clothing, etc been brought into the game the player following would probably still be quite high.

Without knowing the particulars of their agreement with Trackman, the "sellout" of PG in such a way that apparently no further development of PG was or will be allowed is the most disappointing aspect of the game, in my opinion.

It could have been so good....

I agree with you, completely, on all of that..

It's such a bummer there's no ability to open it up and mod it

About 4 or 5 times a week I still play two or three rounds each night -- very very good at the things it does well

I completely agree as well. If Perfect Golf could be opened up for modding, it would GREATLY extend it longevity.

On a positive note - truly love your latest course Brian!

Thank you so much for not jumping ship to "the other game"  ;)  :)

Looks like a great tool! I especially like the "instant" bulkheads and custom fit water planes. The curbs for paths and elevated tee boxes sound good, too. One question, tho...where do I purchase this at?

It is meant for anyone interested in building a golf course - for 3D engine, for 3D print, for 3D design class, whatever. I just don’t know where things will go in future and it was a tool that could let us go to Unreal if that’s where a game one day showed up.

The only hang up to using for PP is getting the green to align - but it could be done. The green in PP is special in that you can’t replace it with your own. GSP allows a hole to be “dug” out on any mesh you plant a pin. But, I think you could use CF just to make green complexes and we could perfectly cut them out of the OPCD mesh.

I could even make a button for that. So you would draw the Course in Inkscape but not put in the greens for CF. Now, would that be preferred over just using CF for JNPG? I don’t know.

I do know you should at least be able to use this to create Bulkheads, paths or water planes if desired. Because I actually have some Python/Blender skills after this journey - something Custom for your needs would probably not take me much time.

As far as costs - free as long as you aren’t monetizing. It’s a pay it forward idea. I provide for you - you provide for community. If you want to be paid for your ventures, you would need to talk to me about licensing. Can I truly police that - no, probably not?

Some super fun things tho - for GSP can even build a mini golf with this in a few hours and have it look pretty polished

I really like that your tool is looking towards the future. Being able to draw course shapes outside of the Course Forge means that the work you put into it could hopefully also be used for different golf games down the road. That would save a lot of time.

It makes complete sense that you would need to draw greens using the Course Forge since the cup is cut out of those meshes. Does the Course Forge recognize other terrain shapes such as tees, bunkers and fairways when they are imported using your tool?

Yes, you can set the Physics on any mesh. As you point out, can’t override the green. I don’t know enough about the code to say for sure if we could force a mesh to be considered the green. That would be massive. It would breathe a touch of life back into PG. And, it would mean any course people are currently building in newer Unity could easily be used for PG as well.

That was my entire plan - make an engine agnostic Course Designer. It’s an FBX generator/exporter from an SVG drawing. You could fiddle with something over years and keep moving it along if other games allowed something like we currently do in Unity.

Hi guys.

I know this request is quite off topic but could you please put me in contact with someone who may be able to make me a height map for a golf course here in Australia. I think a gentleman who goes by JT83 made me a height map for an outback course years ago but now I'd love to have one created for The Kurri Golf Course located at Hedon Greta, NSW, Australia.

I apologise again for just popping up here but I saw this page was recently active and thought that it might be my best bet.

Thanks in advance,

Martin
