I have opened ports 27100 to 27115 for both directions in my firewall but still can't join games and others can't join games I create.  What now?

I have been at this online golf thingie for about 14 years now.  Started with Chrysler World Tour Golf, and subsequently to albatross18, tigerwoodsonline, golfstar, shot online, wgt, and ogc.  All of them were capable of multiplayer without any tricky firewall configuration or router tinkering.  It is hoped that this SIGNIFICANT flaw in PG will be addressed soon with an update.  How complicaed can it be to fix?

It's very difficult to fix but we're working on it. Will the new solution be 100% successful? I don't know but it should be significant improvement for the people who have been having problems.

In the meantime, BogeyOne, let TCP 27121 and 50000-60000 through as well.

Try putting the IP address of your gaming PC in the DMZ in the router software and try then.

I game with my PC in the DMZ and can play any game anytime.

It's sounds like you might have multiple problems then. You'll have to disable your firewall(s) (O/S and/or router) temporarily to see if that's causing the issue, and if it still doesn't work then you'll have to look at port forwarding (or do DMZ as Phil mentioned, but that opens you right up so only as last resort).

If you do re-enable the firewall, then you still need to allow those ports I said - it was only after allowing them could I get mine working. I'm sure the 50000-60000 range could be narrowed, I just erred on the safe side - it appears to be the analytics that was just recently added.

Just another thought, do you have windows firewall on? I would turn that off and see it if works. What Anti-Virus do you have?

I do not have Windows.  I have completely removed the firewall and got the same results.  I have no need for an Anti-Virus since my system is not a Windows machine.  I had anti-virus software and did scans for a couple of years, but it never found anything. . .which is one of the many reasons linux is my choice for operating  systems.

What about a router? Or do you connect directly to your modem, which has no router function? I know that I had to change OS firewall and Router settings.

If you connect to the internet without a router and use Linux I'm out of ideas. I know a group member runs SLES12 and he has no problems at all.

Who cares...

Linux - that would have been quite good to mention earlier.

Multiplayer PG on Windows is working for the vast majority of people without tinkering. It's a bit tough to expect an EA multiplayer PG to work on Linux just because you had no issues with other non-Linux games before.

Check to see if upnp is enabled in your modem/router. It ought to be.

Also, have you verified all your files.

I've been unable to join a game since early access though I can host with no problem.  Always get the NAT failed error.  I've both disabled steam overlay and turned my firewall off  - no luck.  Router ports were opened for PG during testing.  It is a bit disconcerting since I had no real issues joining games prior to early access, could play with my firewall on and with the steam overlay on.

edit:

I've since put my machine in the DMZ as well and still cannot join,

Joe, I haven't tried online since EA. But based on what you saying, it must be a problem in PG. I never had a problem during alpha testing once we starting getting our updates through Steam. I guess you're saying the same.

Same with me.  Put things in DMZ, opened all the specified ports in both UDP and TCP, made sure upnp is enabled, turned the firewall off, and still the same lack of results.  Looks like I am gonna do a couple of solo rounds per day and hope that this game's administration can figure things out.
