As the u5 integration and updates are very extensive, we're looking at least two or three more weeks before everything is integrated and the courses updated to take advantage of the new powers. As we get further along the upgrade path we will release more information.
We could have simply limped along on the older graphics engine but sometimes to make big improvements you need to make big changes.

Will this help with older less powerful PCs or make it worse?

Mike, I have been wondering if it was worth all the trouble (I haven't bothered to check the improvements). Now you've answered that question.
Can you give us laymen out here some of the advantages of the new U5 upgrade. Just curious, and keep up the good work!

Better lighting, better textures, better weather integration, better tree and vegetation collisions, better optimisation - that's a good start

One downside of the change that I've found is that the tutorials for 4.6 don't seem to work with Unity 5. Guess I'll keep searching till I find one

Sorry Ian, You are exactly 180° from my reality. I may suffer from CRS but it always results in over indulgence, not under indulgence. ![]()

My comment was mainly aimed at advantages to players (and thank you for your timely and informative response). I'm not going to worry about the programming benefits until the Course Forge release...whichi I am looking forward to avidly...and wouldn't mind hearing more about. I know this conversion is costing you many man hours. So I figure it must be worth it.

Thanks for keeping us informed, Mike. Much appreciated. Would it be possible to show the difference Unity 5 makes? Maybe side by side screenshots of one of the courses? As the u5 integration and updates are very extensive, we're looking at least two or three more weeks before everything is integrated and the courses updated to take advantage of the new powers. As we get further along the upgrade path we will release more information.
