After tense negotiations and problems have been resolved with sponsors, committees, the authorities and the players association under threat of cancellation of the event - it is on!

You can play this tourney at whatever assist level you like. Bear in mind that the conditions are fairly tough. I have set up the tournament this way to give an indication of how low we can score under those conditions and at a tough course. I look at it this way - players who use all assists (I will be one of them) would be like having the latest equipment, the best balls, great caddies and coaches. A player who participates with no assists is like using wooden drivers, old B51 and Dunlop 65 balls, your mate from the pub on the bag and an old Ben Hogan coaching manual. It will be a challenge but if they win it will be hugely honorable and glorious.

Good luck and have fun.

Welcome Back Teddy!

My first round was normal at +1 on the front nine.

But exceptional on the back nine with an eagle at

both 13 and 15 plus several birdies for a -9.

Overall for this 18 holes -8.    I am a 3 clicker.

Round 1 in the books and now off to work. MS Swing 31-30=61. Made probably one of my best pars ever in game as on 16 I chunked my tee shot about 5 yards in front of tee but hit one to about 20 feet behind pin and made the twisting right to left putt and my caddie was screaming for joy. Had 9 birds and 1 eagle in the calm conditions which I know will get tougher. As playing by Pro Tour rules you must play with a marker in all events so I played along side Greens Min aids and he also had a fun round of 71 tho as an amateur it doesn't count but he will be playing along side in all events as we cant upset the rules committee. lol. Great round and we are happy in the clubhouse and round two tonight.

Decided to have a go on MS Max/Max and shot 59 (-13) which included a 154 yd hole out for an eagle 2.

Not sure I'll do max aids again...driving felt mechanical and would rather challenge myself and fight for par...especially since these are Championship tees. Disappointed with myself for shooting sub 60 lol. It's just wrong!

robbiet71 I don't know if you will be able to go into the 50's again with the change in conditions as I know it will be tough at Max aids to shoot 65 in the last round so why not do what I do and play a Min guy with you during the round.  I played my Min guy and he shot 71 to the 61 of my Max but it was quite fun with two guys at different levels and that is how I practice also.  The first round was low but with the harder pin and the wind and the Stimp going up it will be much more of a challenge in last three rounds.  Give it a go and you might like it.

Thanks Greensboronclion I'll give that a try. I've been playing at Pro recently so I don't want to lose my rhythm.

Shot a 65, 3-click.

Birdied 4 of the last 6.

Went to Digital Storm and ordered me up a nice gaming machine :)

Intel i3 chip at 3.9G

16 gig DDR4 RAM

GeForce 970 GTX 4gig vid card

240G SSD

1TB HD

Windows 10

It's HERE!!  JNPG runs great with all the bells and whistles at max or close to it...  I still turn 3D render off for the swing, tho.

For my 2nd round, I fired a nice 62 on 3click...  I think I 3-putt bogeyed on the first hole, then just got as heck...  Bogeyed another hole late, followed with more birdies to the wire.  :)

Round 2 is now in the books thank goodness.  We shot 33-34=67 MS Swing conditions as required and quite a difference the wind and pins made.  Tough to get the ball close and was playing as expected until number 15 where I am starring at a 21 ft put with 0 elevation for birdie and hit just shy of mark and it rolled and it rolled until it was off the false back at 38 ft away.  Took double bog from there and ended with a 67 that should have been about 64 but very easily could have been a 70.  Add wind and slightly more difficult pins and the stimp at 11 and you got to be careful even at Max or you will be in trouble real quick.  You can make Max a tough out if you change the conditions to more difficult and this will be tough the last two rounds to get much lower than that.  My sidekick marker guy Greens Min played with me again and came in at a respectable 74 and will now head off with me to the 19th hole to go over the round and have a few adult beverages with our Caddy Leonard.  Got luck to all.

R1 - 63 mod/mod BLI

Kept it mostly in the fairway but a lot of shots seemed to fade late into the outer reaches of the greens. Putter kept the momentum going.

robbiet71........Your input is very valuable to give us an idea of how low the scoring can go in certain conditions. This is the starting point for this tournament and future tournaments. Based on the scores so far I wouldn't set a round like this first round. I would at least have some breeze to throw the ball further from the hole. It was too easy to get close and with the putting in its current form there are too many birdies. I understand your wanting to maintain your Pro rhythm. Playing a lot of max is mucking up my Pro game but while I'm playing max now I try to concentrate on replicating my Pro tempo. It certainly helps with the accuracy at max and that in itself makes playing at that level a nice challenge - to place the ball to your advantage.

I still have some aces up my sleeve as far as making scoring harder and it remains to be seen if the update makes a difference as well. If the putting becomes slightly harder that will help enormously to keep the scoring realistic. Of course there is a further option and that is to restrict these tournaments to exclude the max assists level. To be honest, if there was manual control of wind with small gradations that would be perfect. I know there is a school of thought that it doesn't matter what the scores are as everyone is playing the same game but I think it's very important to have a simulation of scoring as much as every other aspect of golf.
