Whos got one?

For as long as I can remember, I always had a green mown into the grass in the backyard (much to my fathers annoyance lol)

Now days though, I am going a little bit bigger in scale :) I live on 7 acres and over the last couple of years have been slowly building up a course I have designed to fill up space between a creek and our side fence line. It may well take me 10 years to get it playable, but it will get there. I really need a Bobcat to do it properly, so once I have acquired one, all hell will break loose.

I have posted some photos below to show the very slow progress, and will keep this thread updated over the years as things progress. Sorry for the size and quantity, but hopefully you will get a kick out of them.

Still deciding on proper grass greens or synthetic, but I am slowly leaning towards synthetic with some of the products that I have seen recently.

If any of you guys or girls have anything, even that mown circle on the ground, show us what youve got :)

Wayne, you are something else lol... I am impressed. How you manage to maintain 7 acres is another thing..  it's great for you to share them with us!

If that was over here in England, it would likely have a caravan or several on them within minutes... and they'd probably be roadworks appear from nowhere, even without a road. Not to mention the traffic jams that would appear too...

I have a postage stamp of a garden, that wishes it was as big as some of the parcels it would like to stick to..

From the 2nd pic in the first post, we now know where 'Lone Cypress' ended up, lol.

Thanks for sharing Wayne and good luck with the up keep.

Very impressive Wayne. Just one small point, if you ever visit England, can you pop up to Manchester and mow my lawn . . .

Wayne - you need Real Course Forge!!!

Great stuff though. My back garden / yard is sall enough that a thinned chip is in danger of causing serious damage!

That is very cool Wayne. You are truly a designer in APCD and IRL.

I have had 3 courses at places I have lived since my father first  cut soup cans in our backyard when I was 3.  I then built my first backyard course at my first house.  It took 15 yards of dirt all moved by me in a wheelbarrow and many years of overseeding.  Here is a look at the 3 hole layout.

Hole 1 foreground. Hole 2 to the left. Hole 3 barely visible to the right.

And last year I started on Everest Corner.

Here is what I started with about a year ago.

lols, loving the Augusta flag!! Both great efforts by the way chaps - enjoyed the photos  :D

of course there is a lot of scrap land where I live, right in front of our home for instance

3448fx4.jpg

the sand trap is usefull for catching pitched efforts but if they go in to that scrap beyond then they are usually lost forever  , here's my driving range

2eq5sp1.jpg

it's waterlogged a.t.m. but I can hit a full drive with my R11 when I go right over to that arable land yonder

1267o1h.jpg

and here it is from where I tee off - hooks and slices are usually lost in the pond to the right or the scrap land to the left, the cattle also have me feeling a bit wary (until I starrt zipping golf balls around and a few nearly hit them - then they know who's the boss, lolos).....

I am currently in the process of planning out an 85 yard practice facility with bunkers and a fairway and everything. Actually want to get it in course forge to perfect it. I can't wait to share the results and invite you guys by

Wayne,

Is that a real bent grass green?

I have an opportunity to get a Toro walk behind greens mower from a friend and was seriously considering it this spring when there was a golf course near my house closing for a housing development.  I asked about possibly harvesting some sod from their greens before it gets plowed under for houses, but haven't heard back.  If I ever did make a real putting green, I would need to relandscape the area by the waterfall for better drainage and I think I would then just seed it.  Only problem is I am not home for days at a time and putting greens need a lot of attention.

My property is only about 1/3 of an acre, so I am jealous of all the land you have to make something really cool and fun.

Wishing you all the best with your design.  Like you need it ;)
