Is membership required, (which I do not like  :(), or can we just purchase equipment and play- which is what I prefer  :), via a wide variety of payment options.

The one reason I hated Tiger Woods golf by EA so much, besides the 2D graphics, was there requirement of membership. I stopped playing it because of it, and is why I started playing WGT, which has become so aggravating lately because of so many intentionally programmed game issues, as well as all the rude and immature people there. I hate even thinking about having to play there now, but unfortunately they currently have a monopoly on online interactive virtual golf, so i'm stuck there for now, at least until PP is up and running.

Do you mean Tiger Woods Online? Their graphics would qualify as 3D imo. I can't answer your questions with any authority, JPAR, but playing any online golf game without some sort of membership, or at least some form of registration being involved, seems to be a bit... impossible.

There might be an offfline mode in PerfectGolf, we do not know that for sure, but that means that online golf games with (or against) other players from around the world will not be an option. And that is one of the sweetest, most exciting aspects of computer golf: Meeting other people, chatting with them, having fun with them and - in my case - mostly winning a game against them. :D

Surely membership is the only way to reduce the presence of the rude and immature people.  ;)
