After a good number of hours reading, watching, trial and error, I put together this little scene in Unity.   The goal was to practice what I thought was important as it pertains to creating a terrain, lighting, planting, and many other common tasks in Unity, so by all means it is not perfect at all.   I still have a lot to learn, but I felt it was necessary to learn and practice the basics, especially the terrain creation tools.   This program is simply amazing.. some of the tutorials and videos I've watched were just amazing and a tremendous help to my development.

In any event.. here is my scene.   It is not a golf course, but something that I just made up as I practiced using the different tools in Unity.   Note that all of the assets used in this scene were free at the Unity Asset Store.   I didn't even attempt to do anything custom, but I suppose that may something I look into the future.

I did get a little nutty on the planting, but it is so much fun!

Feedback is certainly welcomed.   Thanks!

Looks great! You really knocked it out of the park, especially considering that is your 1st attempt at a scene.

Nicely done... although I think I see some crazed addiction there... and did you ask K11 regarding the copyright on the Willow....??

Hope the appointment for the CFA comes through for you soon....

Anyone have some clever insight on weather effects?   I'd like to learn/practice wind, rain, snow, rolling clouds.   I would like to use this same scene, but create a new scene containing weather effects.   I've searched, but many are beyond my scope of knowledge in terms of C# scripting and all.

Thanks!

The game itself (as opposed to the course) supplies the rain and wind in PG. You can add your own clouds, snow, wind and rain but the game won't take them into account as far as ball physics and wind meter goes. Pretty little scene btw.

Weather is provided by the game, Rob. It's procedurally added in PG, without any of it being scripted or designed in Unity.

The only atmospheric decisions for you to make are the styling of the skybox, the angle and height of the directional light, the color and amount of the fog  and the intensity of shadows - but these will only be visible for those who toggle dynamic weather off in the game.

Additionally, feel free to add textures or objects of snow and ice to the terrain.

Sorry, the rest is completely out your reach.

Edit: Sorry for parallel posting, shimonko

Yes, I am aware that the game itself has its built in functionalities, but I am talking about Unity itself and how I can incorporate those effects into my little scene above.  I will do more research and did see if I can come up with something...

Impressive Rob, On one of your courses I'd like to see the entire scene right at the turn. ;)
