It appears that this was the group that was to develop TW 2015 before EA pulled the plug.

Am I the only one that finds this interesting.

Well, they wouldn't be the first development company to have a parting of the ways with EA.

Slightly Mad Studios (SMS) did it, after they made Shift and Shift 2: Unleashed for EA. They are currently working on their own part community funded project called PCARS.

Also, I think the 2 main players behind Criterion Studios, who were making re-boots of the old Need for Speed games, have departed and gone off to set up their own company.

Wonder if the decision to drop Tiger from being their cover star made EA's mind up that a golf game wasn't in their plans this year. Does make you wonder though, with the game suddenly appearing out of the blue and so far in to development, that they seem to have basically taken what would have been TW15 and slapped a new name on it and looking to release free of the shackles of EA.

;)

This is what I find interesting. Concerned about the first part of the comment yet excited about the second.

I don't think what we're seeing in The Golf Club is the continuation of what EA Sports would have farmed out to HB Studios to develop as Tiger 15.  It's far too different a game in so many ways from the Tiger Woods series, IMO.  I don't think EA Sports would have wanted a revolutionary new game to be the lame duck on the 360 and PS3, until they got their internal development done on the next-gen Tiger.

I think gamers who would have bought the interim version of Tiger on current-gen would have then been conditioned to expect all of these forward-thinking, open-ended, content creation options on the next-gen version of EA Sports PGA Tour 16.  I don't think EA Sports is quite ready to go in that direction, but that's my best speculation.   I think The Golf Club is going to force EA Sports to rethink their approach to their next-gen console golf game though!
