We' ll be doing loads of tutorials when CourseForge goes public. We are currently in private Beta stage with several people testing it. So far their feedback has been great and we are planning on making some of the changes suggested to make life easier when creating your own courses.

The question is - would you like to wait for a version of PerfectGolf in order to test CF or would you like to see a version of CF released as soon as its ready?

Depends if releasing CF first delays an early access version of the game: the CF tutorials, the ton of support questions that will come and everything required to get CF releasable can't be trivial.

PP to me has been positioning itself as the 'real' MMO golf game, a perfect parallel to the real game, so I would have thought that's the priority: a competitive round online without crashing with the most accurate physics on the most realistic looking courses to date, on the most appropriate platform.

Everything else, Mac, iPhone, CF, TI, multiple swing meters,... comes later.

Others may not agree completely with that. The game may and probably has far more codeing issues, physic issues etc. While CF sounds like its almost good to go except for a few tweaks and the protecting of the source from what I understand. Some but not all here enjoy the designing of courses more then actually playing. I think I fall into that category. As frustrating as designing can be and it can mean a ton of time spent doing a course, the satisfaction of completing a well made course is quite fulfilling.

While I do agree more would probably want the game first but if in fact the CF is almost complete and the game is a ways off why not at least get  that released  so it keeps interest up?  It may not need to come at the expense of the game release time frame at all. If that  is the case then I say release the CF and lets get our feet wet.

As a prospective course designer, all I can stay is that creating a course, for me, strikes me to be as fun and immersive as playing the game. But it would be wrong, imo, to rush out the CF just to keep people busy with something and to use that as a smoke-screen for delaying the release of the game. If the CF comes out, PG should follow rather promptly.

On the basis of the screenshots that have appeared so far, I'm guessing that Courseforge is a fairly well polished tool.  If the PP guys are having to produce courses for use on the Sky Sports golf coverage, it has to have reached a stage (short of code protection) where it can be released.

I entrely agree with Shimonko's view that there is a potential for a large increase in questions arising from it's use, however it doesn't mean that they all need answering immediately and given how most questions on this forum are answered by the forum users rather than Admins, I'm not sure this will be a problem! ;)

I would be happy for the release of Courseforge and the basic version of the game to those people that want to pay for it.  This will provide for many hours of happy course building by those who want to buy the product and will form the basis of what are bound to be large libraries of wonderful, 'user made' courses that'we'll all spends hours playing when the full game reaches a useable stage.

Not to mention providing the guys at PP with some well deserved income for their efforts so far.

Get it out there is what I say and let what happens happen!  :D

Course forge first please as soon as it is ready. I think many will have found your product like myself when searching for course design software.

Really looking forward to this release. I have the perfect project in mind :-)

Game first.. You have courses made for a game that no one has played.  you have competition at your door.

you need to keep the folks here interested in the game because that should be your larger market share.

(and why is this question only in the CF forum?)

everyone will have there opinion either way, CF 1st or PP 1st, personally I would like CF 1st just so I can learn the technique of using CF and Unity, being retired I have a lot of time on my hands so the sooner the better for me.

It makes sense to bring out CF first. Then doing any found bugfixes. Then bring out PG and I'm sure that will bring alot of work to the team. If you bring out both at the same time the support teams will have hell of a time.

CF seems to run just fine so maybe the need of support will be less than for PG.

Who cares...

I wouldn't mind haveing CF before the Game ... I think you will see pretty well in CF if you succeded in doing a nice course to play or not ... For me , even if CF seems to be simpler and faster than APCD , I imagine it still will take me weeks or even months before I have a course ready ... so why not have it now if its soon to be ready ?

Another question that comes to my mind is what happens to "outside PP"-designed courses once the game are released.

Will the only option be to release them for free, or will a P2P option also be avbl.

Im not planning make big money on this hobby of mine ; designing courses , But I not the guy who will spend hours to make textures and 3d objects. they would probably look ... well something unmentionable ... :)

If the course/s look good I would concider selling them for 1 , 1,50 or maybe 2 usd , to gather fonds to buy textures and 3d objects to make my future courses look nice and intresting. If I get a problem with to much money flowing in ( .... yeah right !!  ) I donate the money left over to charity.

Does the PP Team think that  this is something that would be possible in the future ?

At this point I believe PP should release whichever is ready first. For no other reason other than to stimulate interest. With The Golf Club apparently close to release PP needs to strike with whatever they have at their disposal in order to keep TGC from getting too much of a head start. I know for me personally, being able to view a few magnificent courses would create one heck of a lot of anticipation for the actual game coming out.

I'm not sure there is such a thing as head start when a major investment in money or time isn't required. It's not like The Golf Club's course designer requires investment in time, nor is there a career mode. I'm pretty much stuck in my crappy accounting software because it's too hard to migrate, but as far as a golf game goes, I'll just get both and probably swap between them as new courses come out if both are realistic.

I would think legistics wise courses would have to be free. If you did a real course and charged for it then the possibility of that course getting wind of the fact that you are using their course for the purpose of selling without written consent  may not fly so well with them. Then the whole copy write  issue  gets messy. I think most courses in the past games turn a blind eye to designed courses because no monetary benifits are gained.  I'm by no means a lawyer but to charge a fee even if it's a pittence may raise a few eyebrows and not in a positve way.

There are two sides to that:

1) If you're making substantial money from it, someone will want part of it.

2) If you're not charging but you're costing someone money, they'll stop you costing them money straight away if you've got no money, or wait a while and then stop you if you do have money.

I lost interest in designing courses due to lack of activity in the golf games market. After what seems a long time away from designing courses I can't wait to have a go once again in CF.

I am looking forward to the release of Perfect Golf and trying my hand at designing courses for it.
