Not being a high tech guy, wondering which voice communication might work best for Perfect Golf. I've used Skype in the past, but maybe there's something better out there. What are some of the options, and what are the reasons why one might be better than another?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I use Skype.  You don't have to pay for a server or find one.

Teamspeak is good if you have a server.

OGT has a Teamspeak server.  See an admin for TS info.

Doesn't the built-in Steam voice capability work in PG?

I had no idea Steam had voice chat.  That's cool.  Looks like they need to be in your friends list?

I've been using Skype for over 6 years on various golf games.    Never had a problem, always clear  speech  and always been free.

At the end of the day  voice chat is voice chat  I would suspect the quality is the same on whatever  system you use.

The reason I like skype is that it can be used with friends whatever   game your playing or indeed just for a social call.  At the end of a game your not cut off and can continue to talk.   So it  is flexible

The downside I suppose is you need to have   a list of friends/people you chat with so not usable  if playing a stranger in the lobby ( maybe a good point lol)

there is a new one out there where you have no server charge and i don't matter how many people are using it

https://www.gamevox.com/en/

i have it downloaded and a server is set up called just hacking around to test

if some of you would like to check it out you are more then welcome to download the client and do a search for just hacking around and use my server to test it.

i put this up to test out but i have not had any time to find some people and give it a try so anyone is more then welcome to give it a shot'

it is a lot like teamspeak so real easy to use

I use Skype as I just play online with my brother and mate at present, but we have used Teamspeak in the past when there were Skype problems. As for Teamspeak, anyone can create a server on their computer to use Teamspeak with their friends for free. The download comes with a server and a client program. There is no need to pay for a server or share someone else's if you don't want to.

My friends and family use C3.   It is light, very easy to use and sounds great...

Been a while, but as I recall from Left 4 Dead, anyone in that particular game could hear. I imagine the game has to support this, perhaps the devs could chime in here?

I've used it with another friend in perfect golf. I'm not sure if It works with multiple players though? The game doesn't matter. It just works through steam. You don't even need to be in any game just have steam open and call. I believe Skype and team speak is less complicated.

I sent a msg to one of the devs to see if he could chime in here, seems like it would be a high demand feature if it worked well.

I had no problems using the steam VC on PG, just the quality is a no go IMHO. Skype, Teamspeak and Ventrilo are lightyears away from Steam VC.

Who cares...

We looked into incorporating voice chat within the game but to be honest there are no many great free programs out there that it seems a little redundant.

TS3 or Mumble.

Skype is a resource hog that will hold back certain lower end systems and lead to screen lag, not to mention net lag.

Bad idea but each to their own. It's your user experience, not mine :)
