I wonder is there a space for course designers to comment on the data they've used to create real courses?  I'm guessing they had to use something to start the build in Course Forge, but the accessibility and accuracy of terrain data varies (especially in Australia, which is why North Lakes was such a surprise).

I am a sucker for verisimilitude, but that aside it would be interesting to read how the designers went about their work.

I use Lidar data exclusively which is very detailed and accurate. You are basically playing the real course. Australian Lidar data I virtually non existent for the public unfortunately.

Yeah, no data available in Australia ( that I can afford even if it was) so I used overhead image for the lay out, I played the course (and live walking distance) so used "poetic licence" for elevation. The back nine is not very close but the front nine is reasonable.

Exactly the sort of commentary I was looking for.  A third tab on the course pages at OGT (after Reviews and Course Strategy), something like 'Designer Notes', might be useful?
