Welcome to designer hell, Wendy445. I can't help you myself, I only do fictionals, but many others here can and will. I'm only posting a reply because it is quite usual for a call for help to go unanswered for 6 hours - and because all who do ask deserve some sort of a confirmation that they have at least been heard. Your query is so vast and general, that much I think I do know, that to cover it in a few sentences in one single post is almost impossible.

Perhaps start by announcing the real course you have in mind, to make sure it isn't already claimed by somebody else. Then try and pick one of our real course designers and if they don't show up here, start sending them PM's.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply kab11, course I have in mind is Aldeburgh golf club in Suffolk UK... It's the toughest course around here for miles and a great course, typical English course... Oh and no par 5s on mens card. my question is how do you get the course heightmap onto unity, and then get the course layout on top.
Spent so many hours trying to figure this out its doing my head in lol

If any designers see this please take a look at the course as it's superb, no frills just a tough course

I use Terrain Forge and Lidar Data...it does it all for you...That doesn't help you at the moment I am afraid but when it and Course Forge are released it is very easy...probably 10 mins including downloading the data

So I would suggest just learn how to use the Unity terrain controls and how to apply textures

Oh and have patience I am afraid

Cheers Rob

Ok ... last post wasn't any good ... Bringing on Mr Atkinson and such...but here is a one with a little more effort:

I have desinged for ages with the APCD that is the course program for Links 2001/2003 ...have only released one course, but I have been on it from the start ,,, it ´s fun ,,,, but takes a lot of time ... even without seam blending ..... Now ... Like others, I Iong a bit to the relase of Course Forge ,,,but I will never beg for it .... the day will come when they reelase it ...and it will be a good day :)

Now ,,,, It iches a lot "on" me as well ... but I didnt wanna a try out Unity yet ... because when designing for Links, I want to test play a lot after every save, just to be sure I havent screwed up the file or someting ... probably why it take me an extremly amout of time compared to others.

To ease this ich , I bought The Golf Club ... mostly because I was intrested in how the course creater works , and really Im not dissapointed at all ...its great fun and much more easy and progressive than the APCD ...What I've done in a week in GNCD ,  I spend 9 months in APCD.

I thought I could get a little more understanding about brushes and things like that ... and I think I have ...

Also there are many amazing courses that look very good , even though game play has a lot more to ask for.

So I must hand it to many of the good desingers of TGC ..

I also have found a good tutorial on the basics made  by DoGgz , who designs with CF nowadays... that video was great ( 23 minutes )

all you need to know really ..

So if ,,, you already have TGC or have 27 bucks to spend , I really recommend it ...

Wendy is a very good course designer of TGC courses and I'm sure if she has the required patience she will create some very good courses for PG too.  ;)  B)

I'm in the same position with waiting, Wendy, having a tough time getting the data to line up without TF, hoping to do Essex County Club, one of Donald Ross's somewhat forgotten true gems.

Also, this summer I had the opportunity to play Orchards GC in South Hadley twice, it's one of the courses that led to the creation of the Donald Ross society. It's owned by Mt Holyoke College and in the mid 19th century they lacked the funds to update/modernize it, so it's very much as the designer himself intended it to look and play. It's one of my favorite courses I have ever played, and they held the US Women's Open there in 2004.

^True words there, Merace.^

Wendy, the aerial photos for Adleburgh look really nice.
